It was early morning, the sun just now coming over the horizon and filling the sky with its brilliant pinks, oranges, yellows and reds, making the air crisp and cool, though later on in the day, indeed it would show to be hot and not so lovely. However, a small breeze was gently making its way around, and the grasses gently swayed as did the branches and leaves of various trees. Birds chriped and sang in the high branches of these tall and many trees of the forest, and it was a spendid morning indeed.
Slowly, easily, a white form moved along, taking in the lands around her with ease. A silver chain hung from her neck, a diamond shaped jewel that glowed with an icy tint, inside icy-blue and silver sands swirling about. This gorgeous and beautiful fae, lifted her maw to the air, taking in a deep breath and letting out a soft, sweet sigh. She wagged her bushy, white tail and moved to lie down beneath the swaying branches of one of the many trees that decorated this forest. Yet even so, she was only on the border of the forest, at least the border on the inner side of the packlands, and she looked through the forest's tall trees and could see out to a plain, in which was known as the Shinkou Lands, and yes indeed they were of such closeness, but she was enough into the forest to say she was in the forest, yet she would be in that tall forest from her first step past the line of trees.
She sat there, and her lovely, blue eyes were like a deep blue color of ice crystals, her fur as white as the snow, yet there was none about her, neh she had no much purpose for her looks, except for their eligant beauty. Auds swivled about, and she lie there beneath that tree for a moment, simply content and much unaware of the fact that these lands were under a great threat, neh, she had not noticed the sense of the lands threat, not yet, for she was currently in her thoughts, which lead her to peace and contentment, especially a one thought of the mate she dearly loved, her mate, and a smile decorated her lips and shone upon her lovely face.
Her head was raised at that point and she wondering where he was at this moment in time. Yes, indeed she did. She closed her eyes for a moment and thought of him. It had been a while since she had last seen him, and to her it had seemed so long, oh so long, she missed him dearly, and as her eyes were closed she remembered him, and the things they had done together, though it hadn't been much. She opened her eyes once more, the peace of the forest still about her and sighed. Perhaps she should call him? No doubt he would hear her, and at last she lifted her maw to usher a howl, beautiful it was, a melodic song, its tune rising high into the air and soaring through those lands, reaching out and sweetly calling the male, and as the howl died away, she whispered on her lips, "Icewolf...where are you my love?" before sighing and resting her head upon her paws. Icewolf sat in a clearing some ways into the woods. Around him was just Falchion and Savage. Furiously he slammed a paw into the dirt. "Damnit where is Deathblood?!"
Savage looked down and spoke lowly. His muscles twitched with maybe fear and disapointment. "Ice...he foresaw something...he did not say what. Yet he said he had to leave to protect his fate..."
Falchion nodded slowly to Icewolf. "It was scary. As if he knew something we didn't. Either way....he said he was no longer a defender. He told us to do the same but we could not. We will never leave you Icey."
Icewolf sighed and flopped onto his thighs. For a while now the defenders had been falling apart. Now that there was just three of them Icewolf was worried. Their attempts to train new members had failed. It was the gruesome act of giving the mark that deterred most wolves. The artic wolven looked up and shook his head. "I sense something on the horizon...a dark cloud...yet the cloud is much closer than expected. Savage, I want you to keep tabs on my two sons. Falchion, hunt down Tagger and see what he is up to." It was then his mate's howl reached his ears. A small smile came to his stressed facials. Without a word he took off into the air, soaring quickly to where Antartica was.

The lovely white fae lay there, she not hearing the voices of her love and mate talking with Savage and Falchion were, and therefore she knew nothing of what they spoke of amongst themselves.
However, she did hear his wings as he flew toward her, and she looked up, a wide smile upon her face, glad he had been close by. Perhaps she could have found him, had she wanted to, but neh, she had found it easier to call him.
She eagerly waited for him, her saphire eyes over flowing with her love for him and excitement to see him again after so long. She sighed and then rose to her feet, spreading her wings and soaring into the air, going to meet him, for she found she could not simply lie there and wait.
She barked happily in the air, the smile dancing across her face as she watched him. Her tail wagged and she pranced about in the sky, not caring if they stayed airborne, or upon the ground, for her only concern now was, she was with her mate. She sighed, reaching him with ease, and flying in front of him, for beside each other, they would've been knocked off balance from their wings. She knew not of what to say, her joy was so great, and her tail wagged excitedly. "Icewolf..." she murmered, smiling at him before licking his maw. She felt it was not necessary to ask him where he'd been, at least not at this time. Neh, that would be a question for later.

Softly Icewolf licked her maw in return. Such great love coursed through his veins. He loved Antartica dearly. Even though their relationship had been short so far (and now he feared would be only short) he wished the best for her. There was nothing he would not do to please his mate. Even though his tail flicked happily it was obvious that something troubled Icewolf. Playfully he licked his mate's nose before floating down to the ground. Gracefully his wings billowed as wind ran against the glossy surface of each and every feather. It wasn't long before his feet touched the ground. For a moment he ran yet slowly he began to walk. In but a few moments the northern wolf had came to a halt and folded his wings to his side. Now he waited for his mate to join him.

The beautiful wolfess sighed, and she could sense there was something troubling him. Just like she had so many times before, even when they had first met. She smiled slightly as she remembered that day, and her eyes were soft and full of love that was saved only for him.
She watched him descend for a moment, but it wasn't long before she was descending beside him, she landing softly and she herself folding her wings easily over her back. She then went to his side, gazing up at him, a small smile on her face.
She didn't really want to ask what was wrong, she just wanted to spend some time with him. But, however, she wondered if it were anything she could help him with. She looked to the side slightly, and then took a deep breath. "Icewolf, there's been something I've been wanting to tell you," she said slowly, her tail wagging slightly and her eyes shining, as she pushed temporarily aside the sense of him being troubled, and focused on what she had to tell him.

Icewolf shoved aside his troubles for a moment. He looked to his mate lovingly and smiled. "What is it my love?" His muscles flexed slightly as a breeze blew around the two lovers. His pure white fur moved and swayed in the wind. Those pointed ears of his listened intently for Antartica's words.

Antarctica nuzzled him for a moment, leaning against him with a smile and then gazed up into his eyes. "Well, my love, we will have pups soon," she said with a smile, her tail wagging. She couldn't hide she was excited, and her saphire blue eyes sparkled and shone with delight and love. She leaned against him, gazing up at him happily.

Icewolf smiled and softly licked her cheek, His tail flicked happily, his trouble forgotten for now. "That's great love! How many?"

She smiled and nodded, "Two, I am pretty sure," she said with a grin, now burrying her face in the fur of his chest, and nuzzling him. This was perhaps one of the few happiest moments one has in their life, and she knew little of what might follow this wonderful moment with her mate. She sighed, meeting his gaze once more. Though she still sensed something had been bothering him, it was sort of in the back of her mind, and would not be brought up for a while, not unless the subject was changed.

Icewolf looked down into his mate's eyes lovingly. The warm look in her orbs brought up his troubles. At first they were an annoying buzz in his ears. Yet soon it was a huge roar that diffused his good mood, casting somber looks over his facials.

As she gazed into his eyes, she once more saw the troubled look, and knew it was there. There was no hiding it, there was no ignoring it. Her smile faded and she gazed at him worredly. "Icewolf, my love, there is something troubling you. What is it?" she asked, licking his maw before nuzzling beneath him and letting his head rest on hers, looking up at him, and then leaning herself against him, waiting for him. She slowly sat down, sitting against his chest beneath his chin, her tail curling about his neck. She let her love go into him, even before he might tell her or tell her not what troubled him, for that is what she felt like doing, and her love for him was so great.

Icewolf nodded slowly and held his love close to his muscular body. "It's many things my love. The defenders...they are falling apart. ANd a shadow....it looms on the horizon. I fear my time in this world is running up. I fear that the defenders will be killed off. It is impossible to find new members. No one wishes to be in our ranks. And this shadow grows larger and large with each hour. Pretty soon the end will be upon me..."

Antarctica listened silently, burrying herself within his fur and nuzzling him. A small tear slowly began to trickle down her cheek, yet she tried to stop any more from falling. She didn't want to ask what this shadow might be, and perhaps she didn't need to, perhaps she already knew what it was that he spoke of. She couldn't think of anything much to say in reply, except for a few words of love and comfort, of goodluck and hope perhaps. She closed her eyes, sighing softly. "My love, I am sorry to hear this," she began, whispering it softly for his ears alone, and as she paused, letting what he had said sink into her, she felt the trouble he did, and it only caused more tears to fall, they making soft plopping sounds upon the earth at their paws. Her tail remained curled about his neck, and she licked his face. She too now feared what was coming, and feared that whenever it came, that she might never see her love again. She might never feel his soft fur, nor his warm and soothing voice that carried the love for her that he felt. She might be with him in dreams sometimes, if this did turn out in a bad way, but she felt she would be losing a part of herself.
"If this shadow should come upon you, and take you from me, I want you to know, that I love you, with all of myself..." she said with a faint smile, pausing to gaze up at him. She closed her eyes once more, praying that whatever happened, he would be okay. Her heart was spilling over, spilling over with emotions, many emotions that she could not contain.
Her thoughts turned to the pups, and it brought another faint smile. At least if he died, their pups would carry forth, and perhaps one or maybe even both would turn out like their father. But suddenly she shook her head. She knew she was supposed to be ready for the worst, was supposed to care for him no matter what happened, was supposed to think of what things would be like without him, but it was tearing her heart in two. She sighed and looked at him for a moment, and though the shadow of the fact that he might soon be taken from her, though the shadow of the fact he might soon find his life to be ending was weighing down on her, she slowly pushed it aside. She was thinking too far into the future.
"Icewolf, my love, I care for you, and love you with all I can give, and will never again hold love this great, except perhaps on something quite rare. I do believe that preparing for you to be taken from me, or thinking of me going on without you...it's tearing my heart in two. My love, though you may get past this, and I do pray with all my heart you will, and though we should be thinking about this, as it is what we should, well, I feel we look too far into the future." she paused breifly, and then continued, "I love you, I pray for the best, be safe, my love. But let us think of those few times we have spent together, of the love that we feel for each other, and have confidence to win in the shadow that is over taking you." she knew he probably did, and that she shouldn't worry too much about that, but she hoped that the outcome would be that he would be ok. It was nothing of a selfish matter, for in love such as these two had for each other, one can hardly call it selfish. And so, she gazed at him with eyes that were still filled with emotion, but had a sort of spark to them, one that was meant to put something else in his own heart, if it wasn't already there.
She found she was still burryed in his fur, but she didn't care, and she only closed her eyes to let her warmth and love fill him, before reaching up and licking his maw, opening her eyes to gaze into his with a very faint smile. She perhaps had not finished what she had meant to say, and maybe even hadn't said it how she had entirely intended, but even so, she felt there was little left to say. She placed a forepaw upon his and auds swivled, listening for him, another tear once more falling from her cheek and making its plopping sound upon the earth. "I love you..." she whispered.

Icewolf softly embraced his lover. He licked her maw and smiled lovingly. "I love you too..." His smile was short lived. Soon the mascu rose and stretched his muscles. "I must go....I need to train, to prepare...if I don't return...then please...raise the pups....teach them of their father...don't let them become defenders no matter what. If I die, seal up the hall of the Defenders....make it so no one can ever know it's secrets and make the mistakes I have made. I will always love you Antartica." With that he dashed off into the shadows, going to prepare for the final battle.

As he nuzzled her and licked her she smiled, taking it as if it were the last she would recieve from him, her heart reaching out to him as if to grasp his and hold on to it for eternity. She smiled, taking his requests and storing them in her mind, "I will..." she whispered to him. She watched him go for a moment and then sighed, "Be safe..." she said, her voice reaching to go to him easily, reaching to gently touch his ears. She prayed that it was not the last time she would feel him in flesh, but willing to accept it if it were. And indeed, she prayed for his safety. She slowly stood on her feet, watching him until she could see him no longer, then turned, heading off.
