Antarctica padded foward, looking around herself with sorrowful eyes. She stopped at the bank of the river there, gazing down at her reflection in the waters as they streamed by. It was here she had first met Icewolf, her beloved mate. Her long, white, bushy tail curled about her hinds, and a single tear fell down her cheek, soon followed by a few more. Her tears dripped and made soft plopps in the water of the slowly running river below, little ripples gracing out from where those tears fell. She sighed, plopping down on the bank, turning her gaze from her reflection. Icewolf was dead. Somehow, she could sense it. She could feel it. She didn't want to see his body, it would only pain her further. The words he had spoken to her in their last encounter rang through her mind, dancing about her thoughts.
She remembered also what he had told her long before. 'Everything that happens, happens for a reason.' His warm voice rang in her ears, and she could almost feel his soft fur against her, his love and affection that she held in her heart. His loving icy blue eyes, she could remember well, and she felt as though he were sitting there right beside her, flicking her tears away with his bushy tail. What purpose could possibly exist for her love being taken. What reason could there possibly be. At this point she only held sadness and wishing she could have seen him one last time. Her sobs soon turned to a mournful howl that raised into the air with her maw as she carried it skywards, releasing her song to the air. It wasn't sweet and melodious as it had been before, this time it was sorrowful and lonely, telling of her pain and loss.
Lowering her maw once more she ushered a deep sigh, taking in a breath and blinking back some of her tears. Her saphire blue eyes gazed around and she rose to her paws. She traced the steps that Icewolf had once took, leading her to show her the home of the defenders. A soft smile came to her lips as she remembered that day, and it perhaps was one most strong in her memories. She went through the trees until she came to the one, appearing to be normal, but if one would step further they'd be met by a large boulder, able to be moved only by the Defenders and Elite, or those stronger, yet was not easily found, and thus was secret. She looked around, hoping no one else was near and then turned her gaze back to the boulder.
She sat down for a moment, thinking. She remembered how Icewolf had lead her down the tunnel, had lit up the hallways to reveal the lovely though dark world below. He had lead her to the chamber that belonged to him. She wished she could have one of those many firs, or one of the trinkets he had collected, just as something to remember him by, but she gave a faint smile. She didn't need anything to remember him by. He would always be in her heart, no matter what happened. She would always remember him. She then stood again and set to sealing up that place. The home of the Defenders. It had been. It no longer was. As she sealed it, she did it thoroughly, making sure it was sealed well so that no other would ever get into that place again.
