“Great Dalia Below, I haven’t an inkling as to what’s happening,” Ammolite muttered, mostly to herself. But she knew what to do, almost instinctively. A hawk flew overhead, but for once, Ammolite wasn’t interested in birds, though they usually fascinated her. She crouched down, bringing the amulet closer to Hawk’s leg. Its glowing colors seemed tangible almost, as the rays reached out like radiant fingers to his wound. “I would if I could,” Ammolite murmured almost inaudibly, again only to herself, “and I can, so I will.”
She imagined a flower bent at the stem almost in half, not completely torn, but bleeding. Then she pictured the bloodflow stopping, then the flower straightening up and retaining its former glory. She envisioned a tree with some of its bark torn off, then in her mind the bark regrew, covering up the bare wood and making the tree whole again. It was strange that she could relate to such things, for they were so new to her.
As she conjured up such images, she applied the same quick healing of the plants to Hawk’s leg. If it worked, the inside of his leg would be healed like the flower, and the skin and fur of his leg would be renewed like the tree. She did not know how she knew to do these things: she simply did them. Her eyes were completely teal.

Those glowing golden eyes watched as his wound slowly began to heal. Awe captivated the mind of this mascu as his gaping gash slowly began to close up, not even leaving a white scar to taint his flesh. The last thing that happened was his silky, golden fur growing back over the newly formed flesh. With amazement he ran his tail over where the wound had once been. Amazement masked his face as he looked over to the femme. Quickly he bowed lowly in respect and gratitude. "I thank you kind soul. That was truly an act of kindness." After a moment of showing his true gratitude, the mascu rose from his bow and smiled friendlily at the femme. In truth, he had never before seen a healer. Many a time he had heard of such creatures, but to meet one was a true experience of wonder. His eyes gazed at her with a new found amazement, as if seeing something he had never spotted about her before.

"By Korian's Glory, it worked!" Ammolite shouted jubilantly. Her amulet had ceased to glow, but its job was done, and Ammolite admired her own handiwork. "I've never done that before," she said wonderingly, amazed at her own sudden and strange ability. "I'm glad it worked, though. You're quite welcome. I'd've done it sooner if I'd known..." She shook her head, gazing at her amulet. "Mother was right," she whispered. "It does have a mind of its own..."
Then she blinked, and came out of her reverie, smiling at Hawk. "You're feeling better now, right?" Her eyes shone with golden light. She hadn't felt this happy in a long time yet. It was so fulfilling to help one in need...one such as Hawk, to boot.

The wolven quickly dismissed her unnecessary apology. Again he bowed his head in thanks. His ears perked to her inquiry as to his well being. The sudden need to test his body boiled up into Hawk's mind. With a mischievous smile he looked to a thick stalk of bamboo. The mascu let loose a loud roar as he charged at the plant. Forcefully the creature leaped from the ground, soaring at the thick plant. There was a loud crack as his rear paw struck the plant. At first it seemed as if Hawk had gone and managed to break a bone. Yet suddenly the springy bamboo stalk fell to the ground, crashing on it's trip to earth. Slowly the mascu approached his new found friend, his tongue lolling as he was pleased with himself. It would seem that returning from the dead had not drained him too much of his strength. Slowly he inclined his head and spoke in a warm voice. "It would seem that you healed my wound perfectly."

Ammolite watched in admiration as Hawk demonstrated his strength. When he hit the bamboo stalk, she winced and cried out, afraid that he had gone and hurt himself again. But then, the moment of anxiety passed, and there he stood, triumphant. She could not help but laugh in appreciation and relief.
"So it seems," she agreed. "You're quite able, Hawk. That bamboo stalk didn't stand a chance!" She grinned, her eyes golden-green. Though she had been cautious and even fearful of this strange wolf, who claimed he had just been dead, she was glad of his acquaintance now.

Hawk could not help but let loose a chuckle at her words. He bowed elegantly, and yet comically at the same time. "I, the mighty warrior, have triumphed over the ferocious bamboo stalk." Suddenly, and possibly on purpose, the mascu fell forth into the ground. The perfect face plant as it was. Quickly he rose and shook the dirt from his golden fur. He looked at the femme through one eyes, awaiting upon the inevitable laughter that might escape her lips.

Inevitable it was. Ammolite could not suppress a burst of laughter at how ridiculous Hawk looked. Mirth shone from her bright yellow eyes. “You, sir,” she said with false formality, “are certainly the silliest Mighty Warrior I have ever met. Not that I’ve met very many. So this might be the norm among your kind. Are the others like you?” She meant it as a joking question, not intending any grave implications. She had momentarily forgotten that he was allegedly killed by his own comrade. She had even momentarily forgotten that she had ever been wary of him.

The golden furred wolven rose from his embarassing position. Quickly he shook his silky fur free of dirt before gazing upon his companion. Those pointed ears of his perked up as her words cascaded upon his mind. Again a smile pulled across his lips as he spoke himself. "I am one of a kind."
For the moment he too was oblivious to the actions of the past. He let the sobering thought of Tagger's betrayal be purged from his mind. Yet he could not help but contemplate on how there seemed to be forces driving behind the actions of the world. This mascu hated it when he felt like a puppet on strings, dancing to entertain the one who moved him about.

“Then I can believe that.” Ammolite grinned in spite of herself. She had not laughed so in such a long time! She had really missed meeting new people. She had been secluded for a while, just herself and her thoughts and the world, but she found that was far too lonely for her taste. Maybe it was the path for some, but not for her. She was glad to have found an acquaintance such as Hawk, and hoped that they might even become friends. For one so friendly and compassionate, there was an incredibly tiny number of people in the world she could call friends.
Before Ammolite could say anythign else, however, something different happened. A tiny, pale-green creature popped up from behind the fallen bamboo stalk. It had little red eyes like a pair of ruby chips, and it was reptilian. A little lizard with a long, swaying tail. It scuttled across the horizontal stalk, and leaped in front of Ammolite, though it turned to face Hawk instead. Then it spoke, its voice a surprisingly low baritone that suggested it was male. “Thank you, O Mighty Warrior, for nearly killing me with your show of strength. I am much indebted.” Sarcasm dripped from every word. What or who this creature was, there was no explanation. Even Ammolite looked bewildered, coloring her eyes orange to show it.

Hawk tensed quickly as he caught the scent of the little creature in a breeze. When he heard it's voice so full of malice he tilted his head to the being. Slowly he backed up a step from the miniature beings. A fool might make some sort of jibe as to the creature's statue, yet he had learned from experience never to underestimate anyone. His golden wings perked up slightly as he looked to the being who had sprung forth from the stalk of bamboo. Those glowing eyes of his looked up to Ammolite as if to question her to what the creature was. Yet he saw curiousity within her own stance and knew he would not get an answer from her.
Slowly he lowered his head to be level with the gaze of the creature. He remained far enough away lest the obviously agitated being attack. Pointed ears perked up as he looked over the little lizard-like being. Finally he spoke up with a curious tone. "Forgive me, but I was oblivious as to your presense. Just as I am oblivious as to what you are."

“I am what I look like,” the lizard-creature replied curtly. “Not that it’s that important. I accept your most humble apology, Sir Hawk. And before you gasp and demand of me what omniscent powers I have, I can answer: my ears. Just before you nearly beaned me with that stalk, I heard your name from this noble lady here. Though her name, I’m afraid, quite escaped me. No matter.” He narrowed his beady red eyes at Hawk but said not another word.
“Oh dear,” said Ammolite. “I don’t know what to do in a situation like this. Well, er…my name is Ammolite, young creature. And who are you?” She was completely bemused.
The lizard-creature looked at her oddly. “Ammolite, so you say? Funny, I knew an ‘Ammolite’ once. As to who I am…I’ll tell you my name, but that’s not who I am. My name is Azarak.”

The wolven felt a smile play across his lips as this lizard, as it seemed to be in his eyes, continued to speak. Slowly Hawk flicked his tail as he looked up to Ammolite and looked upon her for a moment. Noises rumbled from deep in his chest before passing over his lips in a voice. Whilst he talked, his gaze looked down to the creature who had appeared.
"It would seem that you enjoy weaving riddles with that tongue of yours. You answer questions without giving out the knowledge that the inquiry itself asks upon you. Obviously you are educated, but are you intelligent?"
The golden furred wolven smirked as he attempted to create his own riddle for this creature. He did enjoyed having his mind toyed with. For it kept him sharp and aware of the world around. Yet a thought bubbled up in his mind. Never before had he seen a talking lizard, which he doubted to be this being's true nature. Hawk remained wary as again he looked up to Ammolite.

Azarak’s reptilian twisted into some kind of grotesque form, which appeared to be the lizard-creature’s way of smiling. “And you enjoy analyzing creatures and playing mind games, so it seems. For one who appears to look down on assumptions, you have made one yourself: you have assumed I am educated. Such an ambiguous word! Your definition of education and mine seem to be different, for I would not consider myself educated. Intelligent, yes, but not educated. You had better be careful to avoid ambiguity in assumption.”
“By Korian’s Crown, you two are very strange,” remarked Ammolite. “Your words travel in circles. I say, Azarak, who was this Ammolite you once knew?” She looked at him earnestly, but the lizard-creature did not answer. He seemed to be waiting for Hawk to reply first.

Hawk was not deterred by the little creature's words. His own lips pulled into a clever smile as his tail flicked slowly. He had forgotten what it was to play 'mind games'. For so long he had been surrounded by the rather barbaric Defenders. None of them had enjoyed riddles of the mind. Some of them had even been angered at his first attempts at such pleasures of the intellect. His golden eyes narrowed into slivers as he gazed upon the other and spoke.
"You warn my not to make assumptions and yet you assume that I made an assumption unto you. Yet here I am making another assumption as undoubtably your rebuttle to these words will be yet another assumption. One assumption leads to another untill one of us ends this pleasant battle of minds. We must come to peace with that ideal that life is full of assumptions as we must act upon our theories. Now I do believe that the beautiful wolfess behind you has asked a question. May I be so bold as to assume that you will answer her?"
OOC: Excuse my out of character but I just have to comment on how funny this is. ^^

“Assumptions, pah!” Azarak replied. “I have nothing against them. Nothing at all. I make them all the time. I thrive on assumptions, one could say. But I’m afraid I must point out a technicality you have missed: I believe I warned you against ambiguity in your assumptions. Take care of that, sir, and you may assume your life away, as do I. Assuming, of course, that’s what you intend to do.” His grotesque grin stretched wider. “Now, thank you for returning my attention to the lady: we could be standing here all day otherwise. The ‘Ammolite’ I knew,” Azarak said, addressing Ammolite now, “was a tiny half-demonic pup who played with stones. Of course, I knew her a while ago, so maybe she’s older now. In any case, she’s a cave-dweller who lives far away from here, so I confess myself surprised to meet someone with the same name way up here.”
