The Kin

All muscles relaxed as blazingtear took hold of his hand, his ears twitching at the sound of her voice. He listened and finally gave a small nod, amber orbs returning their attention to her as he turned around.

"I have a feeling i'm not going to like what you have to say..." A small frown tickled the corners of Tobias' lips as he brushed past her a bit and moved forward, only to stop and wait for her to catch up.

"Just try to keep an open mind." She jogged to catch up to him, walking by his side. As she moved, so did the three wolves. Taimei, for an old wolf, moved quickly and squeezed himself in between Tobias and BlazingTear, giving Tobias a suspicious glance before turning to Blaze. "Usstan ssiggrin uk zhahus dosst abbil?"(I thought he was your friend?)

BlazingTear sighed, "Uk zhah...mayoe mzild..."(He is...maybe more...) At this BlazingTear turned away, a secretive smile forming as she chuckled to herself.

Daaku moved along side the group, slinking along and blending easily into the shadows of the trees. The only visible parts of him were his bright, orange stripes amongst the darkness. "This pact, I assume, invovles you doesn't it?" Daaku's voice floated from the shadows, making it slightly odd as it appeared the nearest trees might be talking to them. Two white orbs appeared as Daaku turned his head. "That is why Tobias should be concerned?"

BlazingTear gave up on trying to look at him directly and turned her gaze ahead, avoiding looking at Tobias or anyone else for that matter. "Apparently Aten made a promise to another clan some years ago, before that mess he made."

Taimei suddenly joined in to add his own knowledge even though he had only understood bits and pieces of the language they spoke. Although the pact had been written in a language not familiar to Taimei, he understood it through the explanations of others, and so spoke it as he had heard it. "It has been decreed that the first born son of the Histan clan's alpha, be mated to the first daughter of the Konzen's alpha."

Bright amber occulars shifted and settled onto Blazingtear's face at the very last comment, his silence up to that point a little unusual and almost alarming.

Tobias' expression for an instant seemed as though he were, as usual, about to blow everything way out of proportion and start tearing into the messanger of bad news...yet at the last moment, his gaze waverd and he released a sigh, his ears twitching softly as though he had a lot on his mind. "Oh...is that all this is?"

He gave a soft snort a moment later, giving a wave of his hand as he began to continue walking, following the pack of wolves. "I don't see what the big deal is...we've delt with tougher stuff than this Blaze..." Lightly he tucked his hands inside of his long sleeves and continued moving as though nothing out of the ordinary had happened at all.

BlazingTear had stopped walking in a moment of shock, although she hurried forward as she began falling behind everyone else, since she was the only one who had stopped.

Daaku, for the first time they had known him, opened his mouth and let loose a shocking noise that sounded very much like laughter. "I've just been reminded as to why I stick around so often."

BlazingTear moved next to Tobias again, gazing at him with a look of curiosity, "You're...really fine with this?"

A slight nod of his head and his ears twitched again, all the while he continued to walk, his gaze kept out infront of him. "Why wouldn't i be..." He paused, amber spheres taking hold of her facial features, and then quite calmly he spoke again. "We are after all...just friends."

Tobias picked up his pace a bit more, not bothering this time to wait for her. One couldn't be sure if he was just trying to play the part she had set up for him from what he had heard, or if he were really being serious. In anycase, he certainly wasn't acting like his usual self.

The wolf-like auds atop her head flattened, blending into her hair as they shared the same, dark tint. Something about the way Tobias had said it hurt her a bit. BlazingTear's pace slowed, until she was once again walking quietly beside her grandfather.

Taimei glance at Blaze, before turning his head up, and closing his eyes in an elderly, regal stance, "Usstan kyorl uk h'ros tlu NINDEL type d' abbil, vel'drav uk treats dos saph nindel. Drill ol's dubo ulu tesso ka uk's tangis' natha abbil, xuil l' i'dol uk zhah nin."(I see he can't be THAT type of friend, when he treats you like that. But it's hard to tell if he's even a friend, with the way he is now.) Taimei's eyes, buried underneath his large, busy eyebrows as they were, turned to Tobias as he spoke louder to be heard, "Phor gaer pup, Ka dos ssinssrin ussta approval, dos alurl jous mzild affection ulu ussta autna."(Over there pup, If you want my approval, you best show more affection to my granddaughter.) Taimei winked up at BlazingTear, wearing a mischevious grin, "Lu'oh zhahus nindel, whol biu zhuanth pheol?"(How was that, for an old fossil?)

BlazingTear sighed, putting her hands over her ears, "Embarassing drill, uk h'ros kampi'un dos gil'ssrigghinn."(Embarassing but, he can't understand you anyway.)

As BlazingTear and Taimei began talking, or it was in truth Taimei pestering BlazingTear with talk of traditions and the old days, one of the other two wolves who had accompanied the elder trotted ahead, catching up to Tobias and timidly walked beside him. His expression was one of uncertainty as he gazed up at Tobias, and he was cautious in his movements with a tail that was tucked to his belly. "Ah...pardon me...Sire? Tobias. It may not be my way to dig, but I am wonder. If you are...'just friends', would that not mean you are...ah, what is your wording for it...courting, Lady Blaze? Abbil, in our own words, if you pardon me talking, but there is no word for it in our language." He looked up at Tobias with a curious yet still timid expression. His words were broken in his frail understanding of the basic language, but he spoke with what he hoped was enough to communicate with.

(And there seriously is no word in the drow language for "dating" or "courting" xD Which is why it's funny, cause it goes perfectly with this situation.)

Tobias strode forth at a pace that kept him up near the most frontal of wolves that were traveling in the group. His ears were twitching lightly and once or twice he sneezed, to which he had an irritated look on his face as he glanced around, muttering to himself. "Someone's talking about me...."

Clearly annoyed already, both at the idea of being talked about in some foreign language and at the fact that he felt he needed to play as a friend only to blaze, this new wolf talking to him was probably one of the last things he wanted.

"Just friends means that we just enjoy eachothers company. That's it, end of story." Amber eyes strayed to the wolf at his side, giving him a look that stated he shouldn't question it.

[Wyndbain]

"Ah, ah, Siyo. Taudl. Ah! Sorry...that is..." The wolf lowered his head beneath Tobias' gaze, looking pathetic with his tail already tucked, ears flat and head now low.

BlazingTear, having been distracted most of the time by Taimei trying to ask her about everything that's happened in the years she had been gone, pulled her attention away from her grandfather long enough to notice the pitiful wolf that had approached Tobias. At first, she thought he had just been one of Taimei's friends who had been dragged along to make sure the old wolf actually made it to his destination. Actually looking at him and the way he cringed around Tobias, made him seem more familiar as someone she had known. She sighed, forgetting to pay attention to Taimei's speech and turning her gaze into the surrounding forest. BlazingTear suddenly gave a cry, causing the wolf who had been walking next to Tobias to yelp and nerviously jump to the extent that none of his paws touched the ground. "AH!! Aten!"

Tobias whirled around at Blazingtear's yelp, his actions speaking louder than his previous words. It was blank obvious to anyone that more was going on between the two of them than either cared to lead on about. "What's wrong!" he spoke before he had a chance to even think about what he was saying, amber occulars filled with worry.

His fingers twitched lightly as well as his ears, listening for any unusual sounds, while his had was ready to reach for his sword at any given moment...if they were to be attacked, he was ready. BRING EM ON!

"Nothing!" BlazingTear ran over to the two, kneeling down and placing her arms around the wolf's neck in a loose hug to calm him down, as the poor thing was shaking after her sudden yell. "You're the same as always Aten, despite how much you grow."

Still shaking, the wolf that BlazingTear had called Aten, looked up at Tobias nervously. Still watching him warily, he responded to BlazingTear. "Yes, ah...it has been a...eh, long while. Cousin...Blaze."

Tobias coughed lightly and lowered his guard, a hint of red flushing his cheeks as he turned around and continued to walk, his ears now flat against his head. "Like i said...just....friends."

"If I may, interupt..." Daaku's voice came from somewhere in the trees, where the deeper shadows covered most of his large form. "But I believe we are at our destination."

Taimei and the other wolf that had traveled with him had moved ahead of the group, stopping at the large entrance to a cave. Along both sides of the opening, two white cloths hung down as the only announcement that this cavern was not just simply an ordinary cave. Taimei said something to the other wolf, who ran into the cavern and disappeared into the darkness.

Daaku's dark form had already disappeared into the entrance, quickly followed by Taimei. Aten took a quick, nervious look at Tobias before practically running into the cave, his tail still carefully tucked between his legs.

BlazingTear sighed, moving to follow after the rest, "That one..." She turned to Tobias, stopping just inside the mouth of the cave, "He's just a bit frightened around you."

Tobias huffed, his breath blowing a bit at a few of his bangs while he moved on towards the mouth of the cave, his arms crossed over his chest. "so i can see..." His ears flattened closer to his head as he shook it lightly. Great...just what he needed, another one to be frightened of him. 'way to go idiot...' Tobias mentally shook himself. Just because Blaze's remark about them just being friends had hurt him a bit, it didn't mean that he had to go off on someone else.

BlazingTear started to move forward again, but stopped and looked towards him, looking as though she wanted to say something. She then turned around, continuing forward into the cave. "Just so you know,he's always afraid like that...a complete opposite of his father..."

Inside the cave, the area opened up into a large cavern, walls and floors polished smooth over the years from wolves walking through and moving about. From the ceilings there hung small lanterns, lit with something that shined without wavering like a candle flame was prone to do. They were each spaced several feet apart, but each one provided a signifigant amount of light.

Daaku sat near a large stalagmite, his tail curled around the pillar's large base. Taimei and the other two wolves were nowhere in sight. As BlazingTear approached Daaku, he leaned his head closer to her, "Taimei has gone into the deeper caverns to meet with some others. He said that we must meet with Shinnou and that you know the way to go."

Hesitant about his new surroundings, Tobias followed in somewhat cautiously, eyes widened a bit more than usual as he studied the area. Breifly he reached out and lightly touched the smoothed surface of the cave walls, somewhat puzzled by their gloss. It had to be a terribly old cave for it to have become that smooth.

Ears twitched as he picked up the conversation between Blaze and Daaku, brows furrowing together in slight confusion as he turned towards the both of them. "who's shinnou?"
