The Kin

BlazingTear rested against one of the many evergreens that took residence in the forest that surrounded Kagome's hut. Her wounds had not been severe, but she could still feel the bandages that were wrapped around her stomach area where the wound Tobias had inflicted upon her was steadily healing. Doushiko lay curled up on her lap, the feline purring as Blaze stroked the soft white fur, reflecting upon recent events. Akashi had left days ago in order to return to their home, a place she had not seen since before her uncle had attempted to take control and split the pack nearly 3 years ago. "That's right."
Blaze picked up Doushiko in order to look into her familiar's face, who protested by giving a soft snuff of her nose. "You've never been up north before."

BlazingTear gave a heavy sigh, placing Doushiko back in her lap, the feline instantly took up her position of comfort again. "I wonder if I'll ever go back."[/size]

The sudden calm was almost unusual to Tobias' ears, seeing as how the past few weeks he had been surrounded in nothing but chaos and destruction. Guilt overwhelmed him somewhat, as he knew quite well what he had done to Blaze....and yet he had been too weak to stop it. Lightly he winced at his own wound, for though the bullets had but disolved and left no traces of a wound, Spencer had fired a real bullet at him as well, to which he later told Tobias it was so he would never forget that day, and would never allow himself to grow so weak again.

His hand lightly squeezed the wooden frame of Kagome's door, golden eyes scanning about her backyard, pinpointing Blazingtear's scent within seconds. He made his way towards her then, never showing any pain nor allowing her to realize that he had been struck with a real bullet. It was his burden to bare without her...a reminder of his time of weakness and the last thing he needed was to be babied by Blaze about it.

Finally reaching her, he leaned against the tree just slightly behind her and a little off to the side, his arm above his head as his side put it's weight against the bark. "Go back where?" He questioned lightly, thinking little of her words as she had probably meant to speak them in privacy.

She turned to look up at him, surprised by his appearance. Doushiko jumped up and gave a loud hiss, arching her back for whatever reason would remain known only by her feline mind. BlazingTear sighed and snapped her fingers infront of Doushiko's nose and turned to face Tobias, preparing to speak to him.

Her voice paused before the words were even out of her mouth, for in the distance a soft and eerie howl had risen up along the air waves, causing Blaze's ears to twitch. To anyone who lived on the pack lands, howls like these were normal, but something about the one it had belonged to sounded familiar to her, although it could have simply been her imagination. Another howl sprang up like the first, followed by a series of different notes when two other howls joined the first, dying out as suddenly as they had started.

"That was a Konzen chorus!!" Blaze stood, looking in the direction from where the howls had come. There was a smile on her face that was different from any other she had shown in the past few weeks. One that expressed that for this moment, the wolves who had issued the howls caused a great joy within BlazingTear.

She turned to Tobias, her eyes sparkling with such great emotion, before picking up Doushiko and heading in the direction the howls had come from.

Grumbling under his breath, his fingers silently slipped to his side as he watched her dart off, the pain a little more than annoying at the moment. Forcing it from his mind, he made to move off after her, wondering what had gotten her so overwhelmingly excited.

The Konzen...

Something plucked at a memory chord, and Tobias' ears fell back against his head, knowing he should remember who exactly they were....yet for some unknown reason, he just couldn't place the memory.

BlazingTear raced over the ground as fast as she could run, caught up in such an excitement that she momentarily forgot that changing to her wolf form would have taken her there faster. It mattered not however, since only a short while later, BlazingTear, though breathing heavily, reached the three wolves who were certainly the ones who had announced the familiar howling sequence of her clan. Daaku, the large reptilian demon, sat back a few paces and watched each of them, for he had been the one who had led the inquiring wolves to Blaze.

The oldest looking wolf of the three, with tufted fur that appeared as though it were once of a blacker hue than grey, stepped forward and bowed, gazing up to BlazingTear, "Vedui' dal Taimei, eldest d' Konzen, dalharuk d' Yukat."(Greetings from Taimei, eldest of Konzen, son of Yukat.) BlazingTear bowed her head, ears perking as she acknowledged the traditional language of her clan. "Vedui' dal BlazingTear, obok vlos d' Konzen, llarnbuss d' Kinsei."(Greetings from BlazingTear, high blood of Konzen, third of Kinsei.) BlazingTear then looked to each of the wolves accompanying Taimei and spoke a quick, but polite greeting.

One finger was placed into his ear and he rubbed it, frowing at the words that were exchanged below him. "Eh...." a small groan of irritation and confusion escaped him as he adjusted himself on one of the lower limbs of a nearby tree. "What did they just say?" he glanced expectantly towards Blazingtear, almost pleading to help him understand what sounded like jibberish to him.


Quickly however, his attention shifted to the large structure known as Daaku, and one brow arched slightly as he leaned back against the tree trunk, his arms folding over his chest. "Hey Daaku....long time no see."

Daaku moved closer to where Tobias had positioned himself and before BlazingTear had a chance to respond to Tobias, Daaku waved a large, clawed hand at her and shook his head. "I'll translate."

BlazingTear smiled and turned back to the three wolves, who were still standing patiently in front of her. The eldest of the three, briefly gave Tobias a glance before averting his attention back to BlazingTear. "F'sarn sae'uth ulu kyorl dos wun bwael afya, p'luin vel'bol Usstan nym'uerus inbalus happened ulu l' Konzen clan, Usstan zhahus huk'treemma, drill seeing dos morfethen uns'aa glad. Unfortunately vel'bol selen Usstan sila z'klaen tlu spoken kissa, whol draeval zhah d'lil vrin'klatu."(I'm pleased to see you in good health, after what I heard had happened to the Konzen clan, I was fearful, but seeing you makes me glad. Unfortunately what news I bring must be spoken swiftly, for time is of the essence.)

Daaku spoke softly to Tobias, enough not to disturb the speech of the elder wolf, but enough so that Tobias could pick it up. "They've simply exchanged greetings, stating their name, rank, and family ties. It seems that the old one has something to discuss with Blaze."

Amber orbs clung to Blazingtear's form as a king would to his most precious gem. He half listened to Daaku as he spoke, though ears perked when he mentioned that Blazingtear needed to be brought aside for a word.

"Should i be worried?" Here he glanced towards Daaku, brows furrowed. He didn't have a good feeling about something and it was putting him a little on edge.

"Usstan extend ulu tau dal Shinnou..."(I extend to thee from Shinnou...) Taimei streatched his paws upon the ground, slidding them forward slowly, then folding his right leg in a strange wolfen bow and keeping his eyes upon BlazingTear the whole time. His tail lay flat on the ground behind him as he did this. BlazingTear suddenly looked surprised, turning her head slightly to give Tobias a short glance as her hands moved to the gem that hung about her neck.
"You can't really be serious about this?" BlazingTear was quiet for a moment, bringing her gem up to her mouth as she nerviously sought an answer. "My father is the only one who can..." She fell silent. "Unless...he was behind this? Before..." Her voice died away, not willing to speak the reality.
Taimei stood once more, old bones popping as the wolf righted himself. "Ol zhahus naut dosst ilharn vel'uss morfel l' pact."(It was not your father who made the pact.) He smiled a wolfish grin, "Xal nindol orn belbau l' clans biu sjaad'ur ulu celebrate?"(Perhaps this will give the clans an excuse to celebrate?)
BlazingTear frowned, a worried look upon her face, "Nindol zhah nau jiala'in selg'tarn!"(This is no laughing matter!) BlazingTear had become unnerved, rubbing her gem as she sorted through her mind for an explanation.

Daaku tilted his head slightly as he listened, understanding the words but not recognising what was going on, although it was clear to him that something was troubling BlazingTear. "They are talking about some sort of pact. Taimei, the elder, mentioned a celebration." He added in on a quieter note, "Although Blaze seemed to be distressed by that from the way she reacted." Daaku raised a claw up to scratch beneath his chin, "I only know their language, not their traditions. But this pact thing may cause some trouble."

Tobias had stopped listening to Daaku halfway through his explaination and ignoring the fact that it would probably be considered extremely rude, moved up right next to Blazingtear though put himself slightly inbetween her and the elderly wolf. "Listen, i don't understand a freaking word you just said, but something's up and i don't like it old man." Here he pointed an accusing finger at the elderly wolf, auds dropped flat against his head.

Tobias couldn't give a damn if this old geezer was royalty or not, the fact stood that in some way shape or form, he had upset Blaze to the point that she had that worried look on her face that drove him absolutely nuts. "And what's this thing about a pact....pact what?" He turned to blazingtear, brows furrowed. "Just what the hell is going on here anyways?!"

BlazingTear's auds twitched as she tried to grab Tobias' arm, almost in an attempt to shove him out of the way. "Ah! Tobias, wait-"

Taimei's fuzzy brows were lowered over his eyes, so much that it was hard the see the dull orbs beneath all the fur. "Young pup, talking like this cannot concern you." Taimei glared at Tobias' accusing finger and leaned forward, attempting to bite it as hard as he could; which wouldn't be much concidering he was missing half his teeth and had no pressure behind the bite due to his age. Despite his current position, he continued to talk in understandable tones, "Being BlazingTear's mate gives you no different standing."

A hue of red rose to BlazingTear's cheeks as Taimei spoke, stunning her momentarily before she found her voice, "Grandpa! You mean friend! Abbil!" BlazingTear turned away from the whole lot of them, the tint on her face still of a pink hue. "A pact is an agreement between two clans, or packs as it's more commonly known down here."

Tobias bristled as he felt the gummy jaws of the elder clamp down on his finger. Mostly he was disturbed by their very texture and moisture, the likes of which caused him to jerk a step or two away from the wolf. "WHO THE HELL ARE YOU CALLING A PUP?!" Amber orbs glared angrily as he wiped his finger off on his sleeve and snorted, though was taken back a little by his next statement, though he hardly showed it on his face. " Stupid old geezer..." Here he moved to poke the top of the elder's head as though this gesture would get his point across. "I'm -NOT- her mate"

It was here he turned to Blazingtear, brows furrowing out of frustration. "I know what a pact is....but what the hell is the pact being made over? That's the only thing -I- want to know" He huffed and crossed his arms over his chest, his annoyed expression never leaving his face, yet deep within him, he was slightly worried and stressing over what all the hullaballoo was about.

BlazingTear froze at his question, wondering if she should tell him the truth or not. Sooner or later he would figure it out maybe, so getting it over with now might be better than waiting until later. "It's...nothing important..." She fiddled with her necklace again, refusing to turn around and look at him. "Just some old thing my father forgot to mention..."

Taimei gave a gruff snort, "Dosst ilharn inbalus naubol ulu xun xuil nindol pact, ol zhahus dosst ilninuk vel'uss requested ol."(Your father had nothing to do with this pact, it was your uncle who requested it.)

BlazingTear suddenly turned around, her expression that of shock, "Aten!?" She moved closer to Taimei, and placed her hands along his cheeks, "Ussta Ilninuk zhah elghinyrr, lu' natha betrayer d' vlos a nindel."(My Uncle is dead, and a betrayer of blood at that!)

Taimei looked shocked for a moment, but then continued on with what he wished to say, "Dos z'klaen enlighten uns'aa gajak. Whol nin, fol draeval ago ol zhahus morfel, Usstan xun naut zhaun vel'drav, drill l' senger Shinnou discovered l' zhuanth narkuth wund ukt ilharn's zenphe. Usstan treemma uk xal xun folbol...unspeakable ka udos ignore ol, ji xal simply natha visit lu' natha yugho telanth orn clear klezn phor xuileb upsetting klezn ichl mzilt."(You must enlighten me later. For now, some time ago it was made, I do not know when, but the lord Shinnou discovered the old scroll within his father's chamber. I fear he may do something...unspeakable if we ignore it, so perhaps simply a visit and a nice talk will clear things up without upsetting things too much.) Taimei bowed low, "Usstan er'griff daewl dosst loff'tarien."(I only wish your happiness.)

A soft but prominant growl rumbled out from Tobias' throat, eyes darting towards Blazingtear's face as she spoke a name that he detested most greatly. "What..............about Aten?" Lightly he cracked his knuckles and glanced around as though the bastard might've been lurking in the shadows at that very moment.

Auds were flat against his skull as he watched the elder talk, irked that he couldn't understand a word that was being spoken. when all was said and done, Tobias returned his attention onto blaze, his anger vanishing for the moment. Lightly one hand settled on her shoulder, brows furrowed with concern. "You don't have to tell me anything...just make sure you take care of yourself." He turned and started to walk back towards the tree from which he had lept from. She didn't want to tell him...so that was it; end of story. Nothing he could do about it.

"Tobias..." BlazingTear said softly, gazing at him and smiling before turning back to Taimei, "L' pact zhahus morfel xuileb ussta ilharn's zhaunil, xor jaluss d' udossta clan. Usstan orn fridj bihurr ulu Shinnou nindel nindol pact zhah naut solid lu' furthermore chi'en l' ze'zhuanth suuz'choken d' udossta clan. Usstan orn fridj bihurr ulu Shinnou nindel nindol pact zhah naut solid lu' furthermore chi'en l' ze'zhuanth suuz'choken d' udossta clan. Uk orn kampi'un."(The pact was made without my father's knowledge, or anyone of our clan. I will just explain to Shinnou that this pact is not solid and furthermore betrays the ancient traditions of our clan. He will understand.) BlazingTear laid a hand softly atop the old wolf's head in something of a pat. Taimei smiled and bowed again. "T'yin ori'gato udossa plynn udossta sevir whol l' trezen."(Then let us take our leave for the north.)

"Ah...that's right..." Her ears folded flat, she for a moment not realising that in order to change Shinnou's mind, she would have to see him in person. "Kyorl natha leza grandpa."(Wait a bit grandpa.) She turned and followed Tobias, moving her hand to take his as she neared him. "I need to go back north to my clan, otherwise there will be trouble. If you come, I can explain everything on the way." Though she said this, she thought to herself of how he would react to the situation and gave and awkward smile, thinking that he wouldn't like it one bit.
