OOC: If ya wanna know more about this... whatever he is, check out his profile here: www.freewebs.com/kaoru-ami/profileelysium.htm
It was a rather nice day, if Elysium could say so himself. The sun shone grandly, there were few clouds, and the small goats bleated cordially to their neighbors on the small craggy peaks of the high mountain. This side of the mountain, Elysium claimed for his home. It was spacious enough for him to amble through and wade effortlessly with his massive height through the chilly snow. The goats themselves never flinched, nor fled from the sight of him; they were used to his presence.
Many of the goats befriended him anyway. Goats and Elysium were mutual allies, and sometimes Elysium was there to protect them from the wolves that dwelled far from the mountain.
Alas, there was understanding that the mountain belongs to Shinkou Ookami, but Elysium never truly wanted to be among his kin. Unsure of being able to live in their ways and not wanting to cause a panic by his frightfully massive size; Elysium was a hybrid of sorts of a mammoth and wolf. The great twin tusks was his pride, and they are always stretched forth, elongating from his forehead; not his muzzle.
Never did Elysium have an eccentric personality, but even so, his appearance alone could perhaps make a respective individual sit and stare depreciatingly and his deviating appearance. These days, Elysium cared not about this; he accepted who he was since his adolescent years many long, long years ago, back when the air was much, much sweeter and untainted by hateful man.
Ah! Speaking of sweeter air, Elysium had long since noticed the fumes emitting from the earth. The gas rose to the heavens above and pitted all that was clean. Elysium had smelled it with his powerful, sensitive nose, and he was wrinkling his muzzle in disgust from a mountain side.
There were more pressing matters than poisonous gases for now. The elphadent, or at least that is what Elysium called himself; was famished. A nice patch of grass would have done nicely for him. He was an omnivore, but chose to eat the vegetation, for he liked the goats that lived with him.
And oh, the irony! There was not a touch of grass anywhere where he was. Perhaps he'd take a flying leap from the mountain and find another poking zenith to where he could perch and look.

Destination forgotten. Purpose dissolved. Identity fading. Vintreasei had traveled what seemed an incredible distance. She had seen the terrible expanse of life draining wastelands, thick labyrinth forests of ancient trees, a great, deep lake and now these unforgiving mountains. She had almost forgotten what exactly she was searching for, and nearly lost all motivation for her personal cause.
She stopped, and glanced behind her. Deep, red and plum-rimmed golden eyes absorbed the image of the blinding snow, her tracks shrinking into the distance from whence she came.
It was cold, but not unbearably so. Her coat was not meant for these conditions, but as long as she kept moving, she was warm.
Strange odors surrounded her, nares quivering as she tried to discern them. She shook her head. "Ugh...what is that?" The pungent smell permeated everything. She thought about turning back...but then she saw it.
It was a goat.
She had all but forgotten her predatory instincts. She felt her jaws clenching as she glanced nervously around. It hadn't noticed her. The animal smelled of a terrible musk, but she was too hungry to care. She watched it nibble dried vegetation growing on the rocks. Her slender, tawny-colored body hugged the snow as she approached slowly, tassel flicked with anticipation.
She could not get much closer without it spotting her....
Every muscle in her body was tense. Muscles bulged under her thin coat, sinews stretched as she positioned herself for launch. Her thick dreadmane would surely give her away very soon. Muzzle wrinkled and she leapt out of hiding, large paws displacing large amounts of snow. She was simply not equipped for this type of environment. The goat bleated loudly and made it's escape. Leaving Vi frustrated and angry in a heap of cold snow.

Elysium pondered for a few seconds before deciding to amble his way over to any source of grass that would come into view instead of flying the way. Just as he turned with a heavy thump of feet, the distinctive sound of a crying goat reached his ears.
Out of sheer curiosity, Elysium waded through the snow, his body too heavy to be standing above the ground; thus he sank, but not far. As quickly as his form could sustain, Elysium weaved his way around rocks until a new scent caught him off his guard. He would have stopped, but the goat that bleated was a goat in trouble, no doubt. All in his way were large, gray rocks and snow.
His body heaved for breath as he found his way to a herd of goats led by a couple of youthful billy goats. They all seem to be in a great fluster, particularly the females.
"A beast with a mouthful of teeth tried attacking one of our own!" cried one of the maa-ing she-goats, whose knees were clearly knocking in fright.
"I'll reason with him," consoled Elysium, gazing down at all the little frightened creatures that he was fond of. After questioning the scared creatures more, and a bit of condolences, Elysium left the herd, following his nose to the source of the scent that was very much a wolf.
It took no time at all for him to find him--
Well, well! Once Elysium took a first glance upon the wolf, he realized that it was a she-wolf. Placing on a soft face, Elysium stepped up kindly. It was in his nature to be understanding and kind, but there was also a reason for him to be quite hard and stern as well, but the wolf was ignorant and possibly very hungry, much like himself.
"If you want to eat, you'll not find food here, lest you want these long horns in you," he said softly, shaking his head whose forehead reigned of mammoth tusks. They were long and curvy, somewhat S-shaped. He was half joking; perhaps it was not the right thing to say, but regardless, Elysium would not let any wolf attack his goat neighbors. Weren't there enough food in the pastures beyond? "Nevermind what I said. I protect them, see," he said brightly. "Perhaps you'd find a hare hither and thither, but that is extremely rare and by the looks of it you'll not be able to capture one. Luckily for you, you failed to eat my friend. I suggest going beyond to Shinkou Ookami, the land of wolves and ask for a scrap of meat. If you're lucky, they'll give one to you, or else you'd have to hunt caribou or... whatever else that might linger there."
Elysium was a patient creature. For all his long life, he had met many wolves, gentle or fierce, but Elysium could be likewise fierce if his looks alone weren't enough to scare the hell out of some.

What a strange creature this was. Vi just sat there in the snow looking befuddled. He was so very friendly and ancient in personality, like a wise grandfather. She couldn't help but stare at him for what seemed an eternity in silence.
"Oh.." She muttered softy to avoid being rude.
She lifted herself from the snow and shook it from her pelt. She shivered involuntarily in the cold. She must get out of here. It was deathly cold now that she had lost her momentum, and she was hungrier now more than ever. She cast her gaze over the seemingly infinite spanse of snow and rocks and let out an exasperated sigh.
She nodded weakly in a silent apology and clumsily made her way down an embankment. The snow gave way under her weight and she slid all the entire length of the slope flipping over in astonishing acrobatic style. She was half-buried in snow, naught could be seen but a hind-leg and multi-colored tail sticking up from the clumps of snow.
Being humiliated even further, she let herself dissolve into the snow, hoping he hadn't seen her spill.

"Come now, do not berate yourself," Elysium responded coolly, thumping heavily toward a frozen tree where icicles hung like chandelier crystals.
The next event happened so quickly, that it took the elphadent a whole few seconds to realize that the wolf dissapeared from sight. With his sharp ears, he heard a dull thud on the snow, quite a few ways away from where he stood.
Panicking, Elysium waded through the snow to the fallen wolf. Indeed he hadn't seen her fall, but he could have sworn that down the long slope he saw a tuft of multi-colored fur that he was so sure belonged to the stranger.
"Fear not, I'm coming for you," he gasped loudly. With his enormous tusks, he flung away large chunks of snow and obliterated them into small bits of snow. Finally, he got to the wolf.
"Foolish," he said softly, "these are dangerous areas! The rocks will blunt your claws and freeze them off, not to mention all the slopes! This is no place for a wolf. Come, I'll bring you down the mountain."
If the wolf had a hard time of moving, Elysium would try and help her lift herself up.
"Can you walk? I'll lift you with my tusks and carry you that way."

Vi closed her eyes in disbelief, could she be anymore...how did he put it? -Foolish?
Once he had rescued her from the snow, she sat upright, staring irritated off into the distance. She looked to the strange creature and her eyes softened, "Thank you, but I do not want to bother you any further." She stood up and shook the snow from her pelt and shivered. Eyes fell opon his very lush coat. "What are you anyway?" She asked, puzzled.
She shivered involuntarily, her golden eyes watered in the chilled breeze. She wrapped her thick tail around her forepaws and shuddered. She envied that lush coat of his and she envied his goats....He was warm AND had all the delicious goats anywolf could want...who was he fooling...he didn't eat the goats? Sure. He just wanted them for himself.

"You aren't bothering me. An old fool like me has nothing better to do than to stare at white mountain slopes for hundreds and hundreds of years."
Elysium lofted his brow once being asked of what he was. Of course, he was prepared for that sort of question.
"I am bred as a hybrid of sorts," he started slowly, looking somewhat silly and cross-eyed as he looked at the wolf closely for any serious damage whilst he spoke. "A wolf and mammoth, if you must know. Yes, I must look hideous to you, can't say I blame you. Regardless, I am Elysium." A pause. "You look chilled to the bone! And if I may be so impertinent, you seem like a wolf but nothing I have ever seen in my long life." Of course, he was commenting over Vi's physical appearance.
"Are you sure you can make it down the mountain by yourself, young one? I could fly you down faster than a frightened baby deer. You see this long tail of mine?" He brought forth an enormously elongating tail, thick like the long coat on his body. "This is what helps me fly in the air. I promise you safe passage. In the meantime, you could kip up on my back and get warm."

Vi gazed at Elysium as he explained what he was, Trying hard to fathom what he was explaining to her...'hundreds of years....mammoth....wolf...fly?!' Her long ears pinned back and her expression grew worried. These were things she was not prepared to swallow. She had no idea such mystical beings existed....She felt suddenly very privileged, like a child discovering a unicorn in the backyard.
"Uh..yes...most unfamiliar with my species think we are werewolves or demons..." She said detached. Her kind seemed common in comparison to this creature. "but we are neither.." She added, gazing at his enormous tail.
"You can....can fly?" She asked, her voice shrill and shaking. She was freezing...her sleek coat was meant for tropical climates. Vi shuddered...caught between fear and the deathly cold.

"Yes," Elysium replied impatiently in answer to Vi's statement about flying. He lifted his head to the first few flakes of snow. A wary look crossed his features.
"This snow does not look too good. If I know any better, a blizzard will soon come to pass. We must leave at once! Or if you wish you may sit here in the snow and freeze to death. I am trying to help you," he scowled, shaking his mighty head at the bits of cold snow falling on his nose.

"Yes...yes...of course. My appologies..." She whimpered, now quite frightened. Vi wanted to both flee and stay and ask Elysium questions.....the knowledge he surely contained, so far beyond her own feeble reality.
She approached him, unsure of how to respectfully climb atop his long back. "I'm sorry...I've never done...this..."
How could she be so stupid and incapable?! Since when has she been this whelpish? Oh god...she was disgusted with herself.

"It's not a big deal," scoffed he, lowering his huge mass. "Hop on."
The skies were thickening fast; it was a matter of time before that blizzard hit. Elysium had been through horrible blizzards before, but he certainly did not want Vi in danger especially with her physical shape.

"Alright..alright.." She muttered, tensing her legs, she launched herself atop his back, scrambling to stay up. She finally got settled, and sunk deep into the thick white coat. She was afraid.
"Okay.." She squeeked faintly. "I'm ready." She clenched her jaws and awaited terror. She had no idea where they were headed, she only hoped that it was warmer in climate.

With Vi on his fluffy black, the elphadent stood up quickly. His voice rose as the roar of the wind picked up. "I don't know how you've managed to get all the way up here," he started, fear in his own eyes. "But it is a long way down, and the snow is thickening. I will be elevating high into the sky if I can to avoid jutting rocks--we wouldn't want to crash into one of those!"
Then he turned his great head to look at Vi. "The sooner I get you down there, the better. Ready, then?... Right. Hang on tight!"
He rose his tail some, the fifteen or twenty-length appendage agitating against the swirl of the snow. With one swoosh of the tail, Elysium amazingly rose into the air. Descending an inch or so, the beast gave one more swoosh of the tail and he was instantly propelled forward like some bizarre fish. Every second, he was gaining speed.
"Up we go!" he shouted, pointing his tusks heavenward, but all could be seen was a great mass of whirling snow. His long fur whipped behind him in a flurry like the snow.
Together, they climbed higher and higher, his tail snaking behind him. Icy snow stung his eyes, thus he had to blink a lot to avoid the sharp flakes. Perhaps, if he could make it above the clouds, they would not have the trouble of the storm, and they could travel easily and more quickly. Shinkou Ookami was a vast place; he knew this. He could, though not literally, drop Vi off in the center of Shinkou.
It was then, as he contemplated the happenings, a monstrous rock came into view. It was the zenith of a great mountain that emerged from the storm, and Elysium failed to notice it-- he was too busy blinking the snow from his eyes. If Vi hadn't noticed, they would be doomed to crash on the mountain's side.
