((didn't see that comin...*pokes Denim*...yep...she's out like a light XDDD)) Caedmon gave a relieved sigh, he had some time before his pups were born. "Thank you, De-" He stopped in mid-sentence when the female fell to the ground. He wanted to be with his mate when she gave birth....but he just couldn't leave someone who just helped him. What am I going to do now....I can't just leave Denim here. He thought to himself. He folded his wings again, he wasn't going anywhere tonight. "Looks like I'm staying the night out here." He walked over to a large rock where he could watch over the female, just in case something decided to come and make the night a hectic one. He lay down on his stomach when he reached the top of the rock and lay his head down on his paws.

Denim lay there for a while, still unconscious. After some time, she slowly came to, the world a big blur of fuzzy shapes and colors. She growled softly and lay there, still too weak to get up. She sighed softly and stared out into space.

Caedmon was nearly asleep when Denim had awoken, he got up, stretched, and jumped off of the rock. He slowly walked over to Denim yawning as he did. When he reached her he sat down on his rump and looked down at her. "I'm sorry, Denim. I'm sorry for making you overuse your powers." He said apologetically.

That calm, somewhat lifeless look never left her eyes. It was not by choice she had the power, rather, she was imbued and expected to comply. She sighed softly and stared at Caedmon, throwing him a weak smile.
"No problem...It's what I do..."
She really didn't wish it were so, but she had no choice. She then stared off into the distance and let her mind wander.

Caedmon's calm look returned to him, he felt sorry for this seer. She was an unwilling pawn to the spirits, but then again everybody was. She just had it harder than most. He let out a sigh and layed down on his stomach.
"You must have had a hard life, being told what to do by the spirits." He said sypathetically.
He wondered how this wolfess lived this way, not being able to do what she wanted, being commanded by the spirits.

Denim didn't even react to his words, but she felt them hit like a knife to her heart.
"It's not all the time they visit me, rather only when certain situations occur, your litter must really be something. I traveled here to tell you of your litter. I am sure I will have another task sometime...They don't bother me too much, but... If I can save someone somewhere, then it's worth the pain, I live to help others live..."
She sighed and her eyes trailed to Caedmon again, and she smiled once more.

Caedmon had a look of curiosity in his eyes, "I wonder why the spirits would take such interest in my pups?" He asked himself below his breath. He looked back to Denim and smiled as well. "Thank you for travelling all this way to tell me, Denim. Is there some way that I can repay you?"

Denim smiled softly, her features drained and tired.
"Just live..."
She then closed her eyes and sighed deeply. She was quiet after that.

"I'm not sure what you mean, Denim." He said confusingly. When he didn't get a response from the female he walked over close to her and nudged her with his muzzle. "Denim, are you okay?" He asked in a whisper. ((grrr writers block is back))

Denim did not respond, her head just flopped to the side at his nudge. After a moment, her eyes opened a little, and her gaze drifted to Caedmon. Her voice was low and weak, barely a whisper. "Caedmon...I'm alright.....................I'm...just low on energy...focusing the power is almost impossible, but since you asked, I did... It's just a very draining process.... I should have died long ago...I am not allowed to die.... I cannot die until my purpose is complete... And so, my journey continues until either I fulfill what I was born to do...Or until my body is so worn, I wither to ashes..."
She smiled sweetly at Caedmon, her dark amber gaze full of sorrow.
"I don't want anything...I....I just want to live..." A tear streamed down her eye, and her ears went back.
"A healing can heal a thousand wounds, but it cannot heal a broken spirit..."

Caedmon just stared at her in disbelief, the calm look disappeared and was replaced by a sorrowful one. How could the spirits do this.....she doesn't deserve it! He thought to himself. "Why didn't you tell me....I wouldn't have asked if I knew the price of your powers. I can't stand to see anything suffer, be it physically or spiritually." He stood up and stared up at the sky, anger replaced the sorrow in his eyes. "There has to be some way to free you from this torment by the spirits. Just because they are powerful doesn't give them to right to manipulate others, I don't give a damn how strong they are!" He said, his voice seething with anger, a state that almost noone had seen him in before.]

Denim laughed softly, somewhat surprised by his reaction.
"It's alright... I wanted to help you, besides, That's why I came here..."
She couldn't find the strength get up, yet the spiritual energy in her veins urged her to move forward. Her body rose, not of her own will, but by the spiritual influence in her veins, literally lifting her to her feet, half floating.
Denim growled painfully, her body taking on a white glow. Meanwhile, the white spirit owl was resting in the trees observing her, its body glowing the same color as Denim's.
Her body slowly drifted to the floor, landing softly on her feet, she swayed. She had no energy to stand, not for a long time, it was only the spiritual energy that kept her walking, heck even breathing.
Her gaze slowly went to Caedmon, her deep amber gaze lost.
"I have to go....I wish you luck on your litter..."
She mustered a broken smile and began to slowly walk away, the owl watching her calmly.

Caedmon tore his gaze away from the night sky and looked at Denim, some anger still in his eyes. "I am grateful that you helped me, Denim. It's now my turn to repay the favor." He saw the she-wolf get up, but not of her own will. "Do you expect to sit idly by and let spirits command you, without so much as letting you rest?" He looked around the land and saw the same glowing owl that they had encountered earlier. A small growl rumbled in his throat, he looked back to the glowing female in front of him. "Please....there has to be something I can do to help you, Denim. I can't stand to see someone like this." He said, pleading with Denim. He began to follow her as she walked away from the lake.

Denim collapsed, her body beginning to wear out. She sighed peacefully, and a soft smile touched her face.
"You cannot help me Caedmon... I've roamed these lands for fifty years, and I haven't aged a day since I was imbued... I am not on a quest for life...My life ended long ago... I am...on a quest for death... To die and at last be released from this cage that holds my spirit captive. To rest, to be finally free...Is what keeps me going..."
She tried to rise, but could not.
"My time is coming... soon, I can feel it...It feels so good...It's right there... I can almost touch it..."
She weakly extended a paw forwards, towards the owl, who watched her with encouraging eyes.
She lay there, unable to move, unable to even try to lift herself.
"I feel it...It's soon, so soon... Just...one more journey... one more... one-"
She broke down in her words, crying tears of joy rather than sorrow.

Caedmon looked down at the ground discouraged, this wolf he now considered a friend....wanted to die. If he couldn't help her live, it was the least he could do to free her from her torment.
"Denim....there is a way I can help you. I can help you in your final task..... to end your torment. You can't finish your final journey in your current state, you will need help from a.... friend." He said, trying to hold back tears that were about to fall.
He looked at the spirit owl with hate in his eyes.
