Tis one of the games I got for christmas. Good thing I asked for more than one. xD
I have been a long time fan of Mario ever since he made his appearance on Nintendo. I've played most of the games up into the Gamecube release of Mario Sunshine. Since Mario games were loosing my interest(aside from the hilarity that comes from the Paper Mario series), I never intended to even glance at Mario Galaxy. Till I heard of the new princess introduction and saw a few clips on youtube of the classic speed run, leaps, smashings and bashings.
Here's the point of my topic. Now, I realize that the game is labeled E for everyone, but I at least remember the N64 and Gamecube games posessing some level of difficulty and hair pulling situations that made it impossible for the average player to think the games were easy. >.>
When I managed to grab every single star in the first galaxy, I suspected nothing. Heck, the first few levels of Sunshine and Super Mario 64, I cleared all seven stars/suns in the first 3 levels. Then as I continued to get perfects on each galaxy, I started to become suspicious. However, my past experiences with Mario games led me to believe that there would be a surprise level that would inevitably make the game stretch into 24 more hours of game play.
*ERROR NOISE*
Wrong! Dx
Aside from the fact that it is pretty easy, Mario Galaxy has a flaw in the fact that it's just TOO SHORT!!! Never have I beaten a game within the span of a week, let alone 4 days!? Throw in several tiring hours of partys and after-sale shopping, as I didn't even devote all my effort into trying to beat it so soon. x.x
It's very easy too in the fact that I apparently went ahead of the game's own expectations as I collected stars. >< I would collect all the stars in each galaxy before moving on to the next(cause I'm OCD at times, unless I'm being lazy.) In each new galaxy you found, you'd always need a certain amount of stars before you could go on to a further galaxy or battle the boss, yeh. Well, it's so easy to collect stars that it got to the point where, I would discover a new galaxy and be able to just battle the boss planet right then and there. >< To battle bowser in the final match, you need around 40 or 50ish stars to do so. I had over 60 before I even kicked his butt. o.o
There is an upside to this at least. Mario Galaxy's graphics are BEAUTIFUL. The ending was quite lovely as well, worth beating at least.
There's also a surprise. After you collect 120 stars, you unlock a secret character! Whoot! However, I think it's dumb to unlock him at 120 when you only need around 40 or so stars to beat the game. Dx After you get it, it's like...ok. What now?
Feh, ok, done ranting. >.> Going to go posty some charries now...
