:: She gave a light yawn as Excursus got up. She followed him with her eyes as he walked towards the cool water. As his eyes looked back to her she assumed from his gaze that he was thinking about something to do with her. She looked away from him quickly and noticably. Getting up she hurried off towards the woods.
"I'll be back soon." She called in the wind. She didn't know what she wanted but until she decided she didn't want him to just dissapear. She could taste the thick blood of a wounded caribou and followed the trail. This creature was large and she able to take him down easily. She then dragged the creature, with much difficulty, back to the shore.
"Hungry?" she called out loud to Excursus. She dropped the dead caribou and sat down beside it. She bit into the rich flesh, the deer's juices running into her mouth. She was starving. She ripped large bites out of it's side, slowly as she waited for Excursus to join her.
She still did not know if she wanted to express any feelings to Excursus. He had saved her life and after spending the night snuggled into him she didn't care the least for what he looked like. Perhaps he had a mate already. Perhaps he was not interested in finding love at all.

Excursus watched as she disappeared into the wooded shadows. He padded along the shoreline slowly, still favoring his injuries. They did feel much better after his bath in the salt water. He thought much of his past...the present, and what may become of his future. He once had everything...and lost it all. Was it worth the pain and possible risk of losing it all again to try and obtain it?
Kimiya returned. She had brought a caribou.
He didn't know what to think, or what to do much less. He knew his body was hungry, but it seemed he had lost his appetite somewhere in the chaos of his mind.
He walked slowly towards the inland and lay down a few feet of Kimiya and her kill. "Nice." He said meekly, thumping his tail a few week times against the sand in compliment.

"It'll do" she replied, though she assumed that he had a huge appetite considering how large he was. After she had eaten enough to sustain her hunger she looked over to Excursus and paused.
It was a difficult task but she couldn't help herself. Her mind was preoccupied with all the thoughts of what could be if she would just give it a chance. But then again...
"Excursus...would it be unwise of me to take an interest in you?" she asked at last. Kimiya put her head down and closed her eyes, letting out a deep sigh.

Excursus sighed heavily himself, pondering the ramifications of this question. He sat up slowly, gazing out over the ever-moving depths of the ocean. His expression was that of intense thought and worry. Brows furrowed and lips pursed as he mulled the notion over in his head. So she fancied him, it seems. What an incredible turn of events. It was the last thing he had ever expected, life threatening experience or not...a Pure seeking companionship with a Dreadwolf. Did she know the implications this held for her? Probably not. The prejudiced of a wolf was unmatched by any other creature. She had not tasted this like Excursus had.
"I'm sorry Kimiya." He said quietly, gazing at her, expression softened. "It cannot be..." He looked away. Excursus buried his muzzle into a paw. "We are not the same. You will be forever in exile of your own kind...my kind has never been accepted by yours, and it....just can't." He was silent for a moment. He felt this excuse wasn't good enough.
"I once had a mate...I almost had my own whelp....the pain of that loss..is still with me..." His eyes watered as a burning pain wrenched his throat and chest. A faint tear moistened the dark area around his eye.
His ears pinned back and he frowned. "I do not want us to separate." He said matter-of-factly and walked a few yards off and gazed out over the water, mind elsewhere.
Dark clouds were making their way across the ocean, a few lightning strikes could be seen out over the water. The wind was more forceful than before, and carried the scent of rainfall. A few distant rumbles signaled a coming storm. "We need to find shelter." He said authoritatively over his shoulder. The wind tossed his mane and tail about in the wind, it twisted and whipped about him. "We'll take the kill with us." He added, shaking his head to free his eyes of mane.
He walked slowly back over to Kimiya. "We'll talk more once we have shelter..." His voice was soft, deep, and lush like velvet. He nuzzled her neck lightly. "C'mon."

The news she supposed should not have suprised her. Perhaps she had thought that a rejection would not have hurt, but instead her body felt limp. She did not hide the discontentment from Excursus, but at the same time she tried not to react very much to it.
His words stung. It wasn't that life didn't go on, after all she hardly knew him. Yet she longed for a mate and a litter...eventually. The fact that they were different did not satisfy her. Inside this made her burn in fury for just because they were different species of wolf did not make it interspecies and if she could accept him then she believed that she could make others. At the same time she did long to be the alphess of a pack, and if he was to be disliked this would prove an inconvience to her.
It was the sadness that did it though. As he delved into his past she felt his pain and nodded sorrowfully. Wounds took a long time to heal.
She closed her eyes as he nuzzled her neck and leant into his nose. Then she got up on all four legs, shaking sand from her coat.
"I understand." She licked the tear drop from his eye and then padded over to the deer, picking it up by it's hind leg. The deer was almost in half from where they had been feasting and she figured that when he pulled on the other half the animal would break into two.
"You don't deserve to be alone though. It sounds like it is too soon any how. Help me with this..." she pulled the deer.

Excursus silently carried his half of the caribou. His mind was heavy with thought and he paid little attention to his surroundings.
Minutes later, it had seemed as if they had been traveling for an eternity. The wind was fiercely blowing and rumbling thunder shook the ground beneath their feet.
"Wait here..." Excursus said quietly as he bounded off through the tall grass. They didn't have time to carry the kill around all night, they needed some sort of shelter. He searched quickly, his nose picking up the cool earthy scents of burrows and caves. He came opon a fox den. He stuck his head in neck-deep. This was much too small....He grumbled and paced onwards.
Finally, he stumbled onto a small overhang, about three feet from the ground and four feet overhangs. It would do...but something would have to be done about the kill. Gaze darted about quickly...the tree. Of course.
He trotted back quickly and picked the caribou himself, quickly skirting back to the shelter. "Hurry...follow me..." He growled through clenched jaws. Once he reached the tree, he scaled it with ease. His unique build allowed him to maneuver such things easily. One he had secured it, the rain began to pelt down like hail. He leapt the entire distance down from the tree and joined Kimiya in the crowded space under the ledge.
He panted heavily from his swift tree expedition.

Kimiya waited as he ran off to find shelter. Her golden orbs shimmered in the morning light as she watched him from afar. Just like that the light faded and the skies clouded over. The land went dim as though the heavens were telling her too that it was not to be. She needed to find her own place in this world, maybe it wasn't with Excursus but it was for today.
Her eyes fell to the ground where she saw splashes of rain falling on to the stones beneath her. One by one the drops fell and she ran towards Excursus, noticing he had found somewhere for them to stay and await the downpour.
She dragged the deer out to where Excursus had found and sat down. Once there she circled the ground twice before laying down, her tail tucked under her neck and her head against his paw. From the far distance she could hear a howl and her eyes widened in alarm. She recognised that wolf and it made her spine shudder.
"Don't let them know we are here" she said quickly to Excursus.

"I agree..." He muttered hoarsely, the fur along the crease of his back standing on end like thorns of burdock.
He stretched and attempted to fit himself under the ledge, struggling deeper until his rump brushed against the cool stone wall. He exhaled heavily, and licked his nose. Auds lay back and his eyes slit into shards of myriad color.
"Why would you want to be with me?" He asked abruptly, flicking his tassel. He snatched a twig from his mane and examined it, twisting it in his paw, scrutinizing it's details. He cast it aside and glared at the back of Kimiya's head, as if to see into her mind.
"Do you understand what I am?" He added, not waiting for her reply, he sat up on his haunches, forelegs at his sides, hanging loosely. He let himself fall back, hitting the rock wall with 'oomph'. Excursus sat awkwardly as if to project how he felt inside.
"I am a Dreadwolf. I am not the prince you seek." He said despairingly. "You'd be better off with them you know.." He said thrusting his muzzle outwards towards the wolves.

Excursus's reaction left her a little stunned. She watched him intently, not replying to his question at first but leaving a silence as she thought about what he had just said.
"I look at you and all I see is you. I wasn't looking for a prince...just someone. Someone special."
She sat up, her head drooped down between her forelegs as she sighed. Memories of her pack and her past overwhelmed her. They had all been taken from her. She wondered if she had of met Excursus before now what her and her pack would have done. Those wolves hadn't had a mean streak in their blood and she hoped that the other wolves around Shinkou Ookami wouldn't either.
"Just tell me, what is it about you being a dreadwolf that makes you so different? You look a bit different but besides that, why shouldn't I like you?"
Kimiya pounced on to his chest, pinning him down with her forelegs while her haunches were on either side of him. She stared into his eyes, nose against nose.
"Why?"
