History of Giaku
Age of Hetis, or, the First Age
The Age of Hetis is known during an era when demons desired world power. Our story begins about 5,000 years ago.
A prophet of Hetis named Arken told every demon that would listen that the god of the underworld came to him in his dreams and said that it was Hetis's will that all demons gather and conquer the world. At first, none of the demons believed Arken. But the following day, an eclipse shadowed the world. It was a significant symbol of Hetis, thus coincidentally proving to the demons that it was indeed Hetis's will for the demons to go forth and conquer the world in his name.
Arken lead the demons to a land far to the north that was abundant with life. But the demons' evil aura created horrible spirits that purged the goodness of the land. Slowly, it started dying, but the demons saw it as a good omen that Hetis was near and would guide them through Arken. They called this land Giaku, the land of Darkness. They began building cities with their dark magic, and strange machines that would help them prepare for war. Arken told the demons that Hetis gave him another dream, one in which giants were involved, giants that would guarantee helping them gain world power.
Arken called a team of wolves to create something so terrible and powerful that a mere glace upon them would strike fear into their enemies. The project was long, but finally they knew with certainty that they managed to create what Arken had anticipated. How the demons have managed to create such a feat such as genetically engineering a new breed of wolf is still a mystery as to this day, but it is widely believed that magic had a lot to do with it.
The product of the demons' project was to be formed inside a female demon wolf called Una. What came out of her was unlike anything the world has ever seen. When the wolf-pup was born, it had the appearance of a dragon and a wolf mixed together. The wolf-pup was a white female, and was named Aveila, a demon name meaning 'The First.' They called the new demon wolf breed Druin, a demon word meaning 'Giant Monster.'
No sooner was Aveila born were others like her created from other female demons. Crowl, meaning 'The Second' in demon tongue, was a black male. Twelve others were born, but their names were lost in history. Aveila and Crowl started their own line of Druins, as did the others. Soon there were many Druins.
The demons' project did not remain a secret. Birds have seen these abominations and spread the word that a new terrifying breed was created. Other territories scoffed and ignored the looming threat. The Second Age
Hundreds of years later, after Arken's passing, one of his sons took up leadership in Giaku. The demon wolf's name was Taru, and he proved himself to be a great leader among the demons. From him, the world of Giaku became an empire, and he, the Emperor. He took on a mate and bred many sons and daughters.
There were so many Druins that the demons found it hard to control these dumb, blundering animals. They proved to be very powerful. The demons realized that power and stupidity did not mix well together, but regardless, they were a great asset to their empire. Eventually the demons forced them into slavery. Little did the demons know that the Druins were starting to learn, and gain intelligence as the years passed by.
The Second Age marks the beginning of a world war. Even though the Druins were quite useful as slaves, they were even more so for what they were bred for: ultimate fighting machines. The demons sent the Druins out into what is now called the Harukani Outlands, and there they annihilated every settlement and territory the wolves have laid claim to. When the territories were conquered, the demons reveled and celebrated their blossoming power in Hetis's name. Very few Druins were killed, but the majority have returned unscathed, bloodthirsty for more killing. The plight of those fallen territories spread fast throughout the world, and soon wolf packs from all four corners of the earth grew terrified of the rumored, legendary monsters.
The demons, still vastly ecstatic in their glory, sent more Druins to purge more wolf packs until territory after territory fell in ruin. Prepared or not, the wolf packs realized that they did not harness the same kind of power that the demons had. Fighting was futile. Thousands died trying to save their lands.
A noble wolf leader called Lartru saw his allies fall before the demon's awesome power, and in anger, countered by summoning all the free wolves to gather together under his leadership for the purpose of putting a stop to the demons from conquering and killing any more wolves. With good spirits at the wolves' stead, they met with the demons in Harukani and held a great battle there, now called the The Great Battle of Harukani. Many Druins and demons were no match for the good magic of the strong wolves. The demons had their first taste of defeat.
In realizing that the demons have finally met their match, they retreated to Giaku to reform their power. Emperor Taru encouraged the demons that Hetis's will was strong and that this was their first real test to prove themselves worthy of world power. The demons roared in agreement, and prepared a second battle.
Meanwhile, Latru, the leader of the victorious wolves, praised them all for their efforts and told them to never give up hope, and that the creator god Etanus would not allow such demons to take command of the world. It was their duty to keep the demons at bay in the name of their creator god.
The second battle came swiftly on the land where the Taoi Ruins now stand. When the battle was over, Giaku suffered an excruciating loss. There was so much death that the demons retreated before any more of their numbers were lost. The Third Age
Giaku fell under a terrible plague that killed Emperor Taru and his family. The plague may have been caused from the wounds many of the demons have sustained from the second battle. Without any leaders to take over, Giaku plunged into chaos. Druins, now harboring the same intelligence as their creators, saw how the demons were. Most have escaped Giaku to live a life of their own free from death and despair. Others were too frightened to leave their captors.
Latru, the great leader of the wolves, had since passed. A new wolf took up leadership. His name was Nightbane.
The Third Age marks the end of the demons' lust for world power. It has been 2,000 years since Arken supposedly received his dream from Hetis. Giaku was now a land of rogue demons, killing or being killed by their own madness.
Among the many Druins to have left Giaku was a notable wolf named Tartarus, a descendant from a powerful line of Druins. His father was Apollo VII, one of many to have helped other Druins escape the clutches of Giaku. He mustered the remaining demons and Druins that actually had sense, and settled in a lush environment that is known today as Shinkou Ookami. Unfortunately, many bad spirits had followed them, and the demons and Druins saw the land suffer before their eyes.
Nightbane saw this from afar, and seeing that they were demons of Giaku, took up his forces and prepared for a battle to save the land from decay. Tartarus encouraged his followers to put up a great fight, and they did, but Nightbane's forces proved stronger. He drove Tartarus and his followers out of the land, and they were forced to return to Giaku.
Nightbane and his forces took the land and called it Shinkou Ookami, and named their pack after such a beautiful, magical land. They helped the land flourish and grow, and Shinkou Ookami knew peace and prosperity. From Nightbane came Wyndbain, and she soon became Alpha of the Shinkou Ookami pack. Her sister, Fyramist, became Alpha of Shinkou's sister pack, Akeru Ookami. They formed a great alliance.
Tartarus returned to Giaku and saw that so much has changed in the land since his departure hundreds of years ago. There were hardly any demons living in it. Tartarus, carrying the weight of defeat, felt such anger and defiance against Nightbane. He vowed revenge, and told the demons and Druins that some day, they would reclaim Shinkou Ookami as their own again, for it was taken from them, and that land was rightfully theirs. They weren't even given a chance to become creatures of good. Instead, they became creatures of evil by chance. They were done a great wrong. The world's prejudice and hatred against the demons only furthered Tartarus's hatred for the world, too. Giaku was then known as a land of vengeance.
The demons saw that Tartarus adorned great strength and leadership, and carried on the tradition of the empire and named him Emperor Tartarus. Slowly but surely, Giaku began to thrive as a new empire, but for very wrong reasons. They did not carry out their revenge in the name of Hetis, but in the name of justice. The War of Shinkou and Giaku
Only in the recent past have Shinkou and Giaku experienced cold war against one another. Giaku was the one to snap first. Tartarus blindly took his armies and battled Wyndbain and her pack inside of Shinkou. Tartarus experienced another defeat and once again found himself in Giaku. He had since taken on a more calmer route in the ways of his leadership. He attempted to regain peace in Giaku, and wanted to show the world that Giaku has changed, and that demon wolves are not the evil monsters everyone thought of them to be. But it was difficult, for Giaku had a terrible reputation that would prove to be difficult to fix. The years rolled by, and Tartarus took on a mate. She was Requj, and bore him a daughter, Marahis. Tartarus took Amnesia in secret, and Amnesia bore him a son, Endymion.
After a turn of events, Requj mysteriously disappeared, leaving Tartarus alone with his children. Eventually they, too, left. A feeling that Giaku would crumble was heavy on Tartarus's mind. With no heir, he suffered depression.
Tartarus found new love in a strong female wolf named Diabol. The empire was rekindled, and Diabol bore Tartarus seven children.
Years passed, and Giaku knew peace and order thanks to the striving efforts of Tartarus and his council. A wolf named Vita came unto Giaku and saw the dead lands. For years he stayed with Tartarus to help revitalize the land until half of te island became rich with flora and vegetation as it once had thousands of years ago.
Tartarus finally knew happiness, however short it was. Diabol had mysteriously disappeared as did many of his heirs, and Tartarus, once again drowned by the same depression he had experienced years ago after losing Requj, soon fell into madness and proceeded killing his slaves. Many wolves had seen him grow more senile by the day. One wolf took advantage of this. Amnesia, once a general of Tartarus's forces, conspired with the Emperor's current general, Zerxes, to assassinate Tartarus. The plan was carried out with little effort, and soon Tartarus fell from Hatsuhi's tallest spire. When the empire saw Tartarus sprawled on the grass beneath the looming Hatsuhi Towers, everyone was shaken by these turn of events. But no sooner had Tartarus died did Charon take on the title as acting Emperor of Giaku until a suitable heir was found.
Lacrimosa was only about a year old when she was taken into Charon's custody. She was the last remaining heir in Tartarus's line. She is the daughter of Endymion, but her questionable bloodline lead many to believe that she would not make a suitable Empress. But Charon said that they had no other choice, for he refused to take on the role as Emperor of Giaku. Charon ruled Giaku as Lacrimosa's regent for eleven years, until the young Empress came of age at twelve years old. During this time, Charon had taken in a young Ohm pup he had found beaten, bloodied, dismembered, and on Death's doorstep. The pup was healed and given to the Empire as a sclavus, a slave. He was often used as a playmate for Lacrimosa during her forming years, and the two grew close. The Fourth Age
The Fourth Age marks the beginning of a new era, and it is what is happening in Giaku right now. It began when Lacrimosa was corronated as Giaku's new empress, and Ammon, the now-former sclavus, its Emperor.
