Though the dreary clouds that darkened the skies of Gorotsuki Riku made the landscape fall into constant shadow, the lush green fields managed to make the landscape more inviting with their green buds hidden beneath newly spawned flower beds; awaiting the coming of spring after a chilly winter. It was not a beautiful day for the inhabitants of this place, but it wasn't a truly bad day either. Though one panicked, golden speck amid the dark green scenery might have voiced a different opinion.
The wolf was running through the tall grass, a flash of gold in the partial streams of sunlight that managed to break through the cloud cover above. Though his legs were short, his gait was long and fast, paws pounding over the earth as he ran in a panic to a destination unknown. His wild eyes flicked about, searching for something or someone, while his long fur flapped about him, blown by both wind and his wild activity. A single cry pierced the air as he paused for a brief moment.
"Blaze!", and the echoing response suggested to Mage that he truly was alone in this vast land. His panic got the better of him and he spun in a circle to face another way, hoping that he simply hadn't seen her and was too far away to hear.
"BlazingTear!" The aching in his voice broke through and cut off his cry. The utter silence and the wind whistling past his ears was the only response.

A golden speck wasn't the only thing that stuck out. A very pale blue, almost white speck was also moving through the tall grass, the grass frosting over behind him as he moved. He suddenly heard someone call something out across the open plains, and decided to investigate. He heard the cry again and adjusted his trajectory to head towards it.
He didn't see the other wolf until it was almost too late. A short grunt escaped his lips as he tried to turn quickly. His paw suddenly caught the ground and he tripped, falling to his side and sliding a ways. He shook himself as he stood back up at looked at the other wolf. Another strange color he wasn't used to. He himself raised his head up to try and get a better look over the open plains. He could tell this new wolf was looking for someone as if they were close, but her saw nothing for as far as he could see.
He walked up beside the other wolf and said, 'I'm sorry, are you looking for someone?" It was an obvious question, but he wasn't sure what else to say. He was still adjusting to being around other wolves again. His tail was almost covered in a sky-blue color, and could be mistaken for being made of ice.

Mage hadn't expected anyone else to appear, more so after the long moments of hearing no response to his calls. Though this wolf wasn't the sister he had been searching for, he made a desperate run towards the figure, though had to stop short when he realized the white form was not Blaze. His paws skidded along the grass in his attempt to stop, almost colliding with the tumbling wolf. No, definitely not Blaze. As he was now closer, he could clearly see that not only was the wolf white, but the chill of the air about him and the sudden feel of frost on the grass suggested that this wolf was imbued with the magic of ice.
Mage's ears lowered in disappointment and his expression reflected this, though his mind still worried that this was rude, he was too tired from his searching to want to think about being courteous for once.
His ears twitched and lifted a little as he was spoken to, though his expression did not brighten and his eyes appeared dull as he glanced over the stranger. "Yes. Have you seen anyone else in these fields?" His voice was a bit groggy and hoarse, not a big surprise considering all the yelling he'd been doing.

Drejan's ears lowered along with the other wolf's. It was obvious that he was definitely searching for someone important to him. He listened closely as the other wolf spoke, the hoarseness in his voice was heavy. He looked back and thought to himself before saying, "I'm sorry, I haven't. I wouldn't mind helping you look though."
The blue markings across his front paws slowly started to ascend upwards, spreading to his ankles. Suddenly, water seemed to materialize from his fur and form a small ball of water at his left shoulder. He quickly dug a hole in the ground and the ball floated into it. It then spread to fill the newly formed hole and he nodded to it. "Here," He said to the other wolf. "Have a drink. You seem like you could use one." Cold water against a throat ragged from yelling could feel soothing.

Hearing his answer was discouraging, but Mage's spirits lifted at the offer of help and also a bit with the suggestion of a drink. He hadn't thought about it until it was mentioned, but he was indeed thirsty and his throat raw from all the yelling he had done. He had been so frantic in his search for Blaze, that he hadn't stopped to think about anything else. In a moment of some relief, Mage bowed his head and showed a little more formality, as was his usual self.
"Thank you, Sir. Your kindness is a blessing." And with that he bent his head lower, to lap at the water that had gathered in the small hole. Mage did not question its appearance, for the pack that he grew up with had been gifted with many kinds of magic, so he was no stranger to spells. When he was finished, Mage lifted his head and licked his lips, looking much more refreshed than he had only a few minutes ago.
"For the water and your offer of help, I cannot thank you enough. I suppose I should give you more details if you are to help me. I am Mage...and I am searching for my sister."

Drejan bowed his head in return. "You are most welcome." He smiled as the wolf drank from the small puddle he had made. It felt good to help others. Even more so when they really need someone. When he was finished, there was still a small amount of water, as well as the ice that had formed to stop the water from seeping into the ground. The blue around his ankles ascended a slight bit more as the ice melted and formed into the water. It then rose out of the hole and floated back onto Drejan's fur.
He nodded and replied, "It was my pleasure." He bowed his head again at the introduction and said, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mage. I am Drejan." He took a quick look around the field of grass once more, to make sure he hadn't missed anything, and continued, "What does she look like?"

"Drejan..." He mumbled, though spoke up again as he turned to look at him, "Thank you."
At Drejan's inquiry, Mage had to stop himself from blurting, 'The exact opposite of you.', though he managed to hold on to that thought. It was indeed uncanny, the lack of resemblance Drejan shared with Blaze was everything she was not, even down to the magic it seemed.
"Well," He began, pausing a second to think of the words to describe her, "She is all black, the same size as me." If not slightly taller. "But she has unusual markings around her face and shoulders...and her tail." He closed his eyes briefly, thinking about the luminescent markings that, he had thought, would make it easy to spot her in any area.
"They glow. Orange, red and yellow, much like fire I suppose."

Drejan nodded again at the gratitude. He listened intently to the description given. He thought for a bit at the only other wolf he had met thus far in these lands, and she didn't fit the description at all. He then said, "So she's almost my exact opposite. She shouldn't be too hard to spot then." he silently cursed himself for not knowing anything about the surrounding lands yet. It would be difficult to help because of that, but it wouldn't stop him from trying.
He furrowed his brow in concentration and ask, "Where abouts was the last time you saw her?" It wasn't much of a question, but they had to start somewhere. He then asked another question, "And where do you think she'd have gone?" He'd probably asked himself both of these questions, but sometimes it helps to have someoen around to help you think.

The corners of Mage's lips twitched with the faintest smile, but that was all the wolf could manage for the moment. His body, refreshed a little from his drink, was little to aid his tired mind as he tried to recall the last place they had been together. Maybe it had been the river. Yes, that's where they had started out.
"I was wadding in a river, trying to see if I could make one of my spells materialize on the water. Blaze, she doesn't like water, so she was watching from the river bed." As he spoke, Mage tried to remember every detail of what had occurred. The river had been shallow, but Mage's steps were still unsteady on the slippery pebbles. His sister had only been sitting a few feet away, shouting encouragement from the side. As he summoned up his spell, his concentration slipped at the same time his paws did and he plunged into the deeper water. It had only been a moment, maybe a short minute, but when Mage came up, BlazingTear was nowhere to be seen.
"I slipped into the water. Everything was fine until I came back up." He was shaking his head, frustrated and unnerved by how fast she'd simply disappeared. "She was gone. I....I tried searching but...there was simply nothing. No prints, so scent...I thought at first it was perhaps a joke, but...she never did return."
Mage lowered his ears and shook his head, "That was when I ran out here, thinking....I am unsure, honestly."

Drejan's ears lowered when he heard Mage. It was something similar to what had happened to him, but the way he talked, she wouldn't have done that. He himself thought back, years ago when he had woken up alone. He hadn't bothered searching for anyone. The way they had acted around him made it seem like he wasn't wanted. That definitely didn't seem like the case here though.
He starting thinking again. If there wasn't any trace of her leaving, then maybe... "Is it possible there was someone angry at either of you? Maybe someone that could cover tracks easily could've taken her somewhere. Can you think of anyone like that?" It was probably a stretch, but if he knew someone, it could help.
He the said reassuringly, "We'll be able to find her." He nodded his head, "No one can just disappear and not ever be seen by anyone again..." Right?

At Drejan's words, Mage's blood ran cold and his eyes grew wide, staring off into the distance, but seeing nothing. His ears may have even managed to droop lower as it felt like his heart sank. How could he have forgotten...or maybe he had simply pushed the memory to the back of his mind. It certainly wasn't something either of them had wished to remember.
Mage's solemn gloom turned to fear, "I...I do but, here? So far away. I do not know what he is capable of but-but perhaps." Mage suddenly shot up, nervous and fearful now after his brief moment of thinking straight.
"I, more than anyone, should know what magic can do. I was blind to see it. Drejan..." He turned to the ice wolf with a desperate look in his eyes, "Can you locate the river?" In his original panic from Blaze's disappearance, Mage had lost track of his original direction and in turn, the river where he had last seen her.

Drejan's ears dropped again as soon as Mage's did, but perked up as he started talking, trying to take in everything that was said. He started looking around as soon as Mage suddenly looked very tense, thinking he had seen something.
When asked if he could locate the river, he replied, "I'm not sure, I've never really had to do it before. I can try though" One of the abilities granted to him by his water magic was the he could sense water sources around him. Around snow, it seemed to always be on, considering the environment. But now thinking about it, there was a certain quietness about him. He closed his eyes and concentrated, almost searching outwards with his mind. If Mage looked just right, he would see that the blue markings on Drejan's forelegs seemed to almost come alive. The tops starting moving to and fro, as if it was water, or reflection of, flowing back and forth, slowly climbing higher up his legs.
He thought to himself Rivers can be big, so I think I know what I'm looking for. I saw him running from this direction, so I'll start there. He could sense many smaller sources, he deduced that they were just small puddles. Suddenly, as close as he could to describing it, he could feel a rushing sound, though it wasn't touching him. It felt almost as if it were actually running through him from all directions. His face wrinkled in concentration and the markings on his legs started getting higher at a faster rate. He started turning in a very slow circle, eyes still closed, trying to pinpoint exactly where the the rushing was coming from. Suddenly, he stopped. He opened his eyes and looked up to the sky.
"There's a river to the east of here. That could be the one your talking about." His lower front shoulders suddenly felt wet, but not at the same time. He glance down and noticed that the markings were more than halfway up his leg. He suddenly started feeling a bit of fatigue, but nothing he had felt before in his travels.

Mage found that he could not break away his gaze the entire time Drejan was working his magic. Perhaps it was the desperation of wanting to find his sister before it was too late, but in truth, Mage had often been mesmerized by any individual working a spell. Magic simply had that effect on him, something that BlazingTear had sometimes teased him about.
Though he was still distraught over the disappearance of his sister, Mage was elated when Drejan was able to point out the direction of a river. A river, only because Mage had become so disoriented in his panic that he wasn't quite sure where he had been. Then again, Mage had never been that good at recognizing landmarks or finding his way around the simplest of terrain. He had always left the navigation to BlazingTear.
So he nodded, hopeful that it would indeed be the one and eager to find out what had happened to his sister so that he could find her as soon as possible. He started to head in the direction Drejan had pointed out, when he paused and looked back to the ice wolf.
"Drejan, I am grateful for your help, but from here on..." He hesitated, looking back across the field, "If Blaze's disappearance was caused by who I think...then this will be a dangerous rescue. One that a kind stranger does not need to trouble himself with." Mage gave him a soft smile, combined with brows that were furrowed with concern for his sister.

Drejan nodded to Mage and said, "I was glad I was able to be of help" He smiled slightly when Mage told him he need not trouble himself with helping. He walked over next to Mage and said, "I may not need to trouble myself with helping, but I would be glad to accompany you." He looked in the direction of the river again. I haven't really been here all that long, and yet, I've already helped someone in need. I think I may start doing this more often.
He looked back to Mage and said, "If you would have me, I'll accompany you to help find your sister. If it's dangerous for just one wolf, it'll be less so with two." At least, that's how it normally worked. As he finished his statement, the ice coloring on his tail started to recede slightly, revealing a much paler shade of blue to match the rest of his coat. His fatigue suddenly lessened its hold on him slightly, but he could still feel it.

Mage frowned at Drejan's response, worried at what he was getting this poor wolf into, but at the same time he'd be lying if he said he wanted Drejan to leave. Mage had always had his sister with him to fight off the loneliness and missing her had only added to his distress. So he replaced his frown with a smile and bowed his head, "Perhaps with the both of us, it won't be any trouble at all." Though Mage sounded more hopeful with his statement, maybe thinking that if he said so it might be true.
So with a direction in mind, Mage began heading that way, picking a comfortable pace for them both to travel at. For Mage, this was a relatively slow one, as he was still a bit worn from before. Running around in a panic hadn't been one of his brightest ideas, for sure.
"Since you're coming with me, I should tell you of this mess we've gotten ourselves into, my sister and I that is. I don't know what happened at the river, but what you said earlier...reminded me of something..." Mage's gaze was locked ahead of him, though there was nothing in front of them but grassy fields and forests in the distance. "It was a hierarchy issue in our pack...our father was the alpha...and our uncle wasn't too happy with that."
Mage's expression became troubled, but he continued, "No one really knew...but long story short: he wanted to be alpha...so he...well, we think he summoned a demon. It all went to hell after that." He was shaking his head, "Blaze and myself ran together...and others escaped too, but that demon...well, it might be the reason for her disappearance. One other reason we've bee traveling for so long." Mage's expression once again looked tired, but he pressed on in his gait, determined to reach the river as soon as possible. It was his only clue that might lead him to finding his sister.
