The afternoon was blazing hot, the sun glowing a fiery red with swirling oranges and yellows. The usually blue sky was lit up with fading pinks and oranges, mixing in to make a beautiful sunset.
The waves lapped gently at the burning sand, going forth and receding back into the greedy sea. Paw prints that were made were wiped away, only to reappear somewhere else.
Kyra laughed and bounded happily, playing with the waves. Running at them when they receded, running away when they surged back up at the shore. To her it was all a big game, playing by the shore. Her fur matched the burning sun as it slowly sank beneath the waves.

A slender femme with pelage the colour of flame settled down in the sparse grass on the shore. She watched Kyra with topaz orbs, and spread her flame-hued wings, smiling at the female's laughter.

Kyra stopped, not noticing as the waves won and washed up upon her paws. She lifted her nose to the small breeze, sneezing at the strong smell of maybe a little bit of salt. One orb looked down, catching the small movement of fish. Curious, the young adult took a cautious step forward. She felt as if something or someone was watching her. She did a full turn around, immediately catching sight of the other. Her small ears perked forward, a silly grin crossed her face as she trotted from the water, heading over to the other.

The wolfess smiled as Kyra approached her. "Greetings," she said, standing. The fading light shown brightly on gold bands around her forelegs, each set with a ruby.

Kyra looked down at the bands, squinting as she observed the bands. "Those are very lovely," she stated, then looked back up to the wolfess. "Where did you get them?" she asked, though was looking back at the still dying sun.

The wolfess smiled. "They were a gift to me, from my mother," she said.

"It must be nice to get gifts from your parents." she stated sadly, turning and walking back toward the shore. "I've never seen my parents." she told her, watching the water for the fish. "I was adopted into a pack when I was just a mere pup, or at least that's what I'm told."

Myrror blinked. "Do you remember why?" she inquired. "And why are you alone now? You and I are the only ones here."

She lifted her nose from the water, staring intently at the wolfess. "They never really told me. I was the odd one, I suppose." she gave a slight shrug. "They try to leave me now, they think I'm too annoying. I don't mind it really. I rather enjoy my freedom."

The femme's gaze softened. "You don't seem annoying to me," she said. "Just playful."

"I guess different people see different things." she stated, running into the water once more, searching for fish. "I guess they thought I was annoying 'cause I don't act my age. I don't see why I should. You're only young once. Who wants to become old and stuffy?" she asked.

A half-smile crossed Myrror's face. "I certainly don't" she said. "What's your name?"

"Kyra," she said after bringing her head up with wriggling fish in her mouth. She spit it out. "Yours?" she asked, watching the trail of blood as the fish hurridly swam away from her.

"I'm called Myrror." She padded over to Kyra and pounced at the fleeing fish, landing several feet from shore. The water lapped at her shoulders. Dipping her head under the water, she grasped the fish firmly in her slender jaws. Half walking, half swimming, she made her way back to where Kyra stood.

The younger wolfess watched with interested eyes as Myrror caught the fish. "That's an odd name, no offense or anything." she added the last part quickly. "So, what are you doing here? Don't you have a pack that you belong to?" she questioned.
