Kyra bounded through the forest, weaving in and out of the tall, thick trees that were mostly clumped together. Though she looked happy on the outside, her heart had been slowly sinking. Still she had not found any signs of her old pack or parents and she was beginning to lose a little bit of hope. It made her happy to have a friend to help her along the way.
As she slowed to a stop, she let out a howl, hoping she would get an answer, though only silence greeted her this night. "I'm beginning to lose hope." she murmured, looking sadly at the ground.

Myrror raised her head as she caught the scent of her friend. With a soft howl of greeting, the flame-hued femme loped steadily toward Kyra. "Have you found any signs of your old pack yet?" she asked. She had promised the younger wolfess that she would help search for her parents.
Noting that Kyra looked somewhat dejected, Myrror nuzzled the side of her neck gently.

Kyra had perked up at the sound of Myrror's howl, thinking it someone else's. "No, I haven't found anything yet." she sighed, looking at the older wolfess sadly. She tried to smile. "It's just a silly hope. I should've never left to try to find them." Her ears twitched slightly, hearing the faint rustle of bushes in the area.

Myrror sighed softly. "I told you not to get your hopes up," she said. "It's quite possible that your old pack is nowhere near here now. But... I think we should keep looking." She gave Kyra a reassuring smile. "It's too soon to give up."

She nodded and her ears perked and twitched even more as the rustling grew louder. "Maybe it is them?!" she quickly started towards the bushes that were a few yards away.

"Perhaps..." Myrror replied, following Kyra. She hoped that the younger female would not be too disappointed if it was not her parents.

As Kyra bounded toward the bushes, a large burly man stepped out and tossed a net, hoping to catch the two wolves and use their fur for pelts. Kyra skidded to a stop, and tried to run, but it was already too late and she was too close and the net closed around her. She saw as others came running out.

Myrror snarled savagely, baring her long white fangs threateningly. She snapped at the man's leg, flaring her flame-coloured wings to make her appear larger than she really was.

The man backed away, cautiously trying to grab the net and drag it with him while others came out wielding guns, aiming for the winged wolf. Shots rang out into the quiet night.

Myrror howled painfully as a bullet tore into her right foreleg. Limping badly, she advanced on the human, snapping at him. The light of battle was in her eyes. She meant to kill him. Rising onto her hindlegs, she lunged at his vulnerable throat, using her wings to keep her balance.

The man, so burly, went down easily as Myrror attacked him, her jaws ripping out the tender flesh of his throat and crushing his windpipe, killing him almost instantly. The others saw this wolf as a great threat and did not bother trying to shoot at her, disappearing quickly. Kyra was still struggling in the net.

Myrror ran after them, her eyes clouded with pure hatred for the humans. She seemed not to notice that she had just killed one of them. She would not let her newfound friend be killed by the humans.

The humans were retreating to their cars, headlights shining in the dark. Engines roared as they put their SUVs into drive and plowed through the mud and dirt, heading toward the wolfess, determined to kill her and then maybe go back for the other.

Myrror spread her wings, and launched her slender body into the air, snarling savagely at the humans. She landed atop one of the vehicles, her powerful claws scoring deep grooves in the metal with a hideous screeching sound.

This wolf isn't giving up, was the most dominant thought running through the men's mind. One window rolled down and a man slide out of it, aiming the gun at her, trying to at least get her off of the car as it sped through the forest, going away from Kyra now.
