A new Life Beginning Or Ending . . .

[Niphanos]

Mal looks up at the healer. "Oh, I'm Maelathorta, a kai from Akeru. I was just in the area so I decided to check up on Shinkou, see if anything important was going on." he says. He pauses, then says, "I'm gonna go check on my friend. He was telling me what was happening recently. I told him to stay behind so he didn't frighten the newcomer." With this, he dips his head at her as a brief farewell, and pads out of the cave, leaving the ball of light. Speaking to his friend, he tells him, "Looks like you'll be having a new packmate to hunt with, or hunt for." He grins at him. "Anyhow, maybe you should leave her alone for a while, we don't want to scare her off. I'll go see what I can do. I'll see you later." With this he heads back to the den where she rests.

"No I think i'm fine now" Phantom said. She paused as she saw a wolf entering the cave enterance. She had seen this wolf before talking and watching the pups play. The wolf looked at her and set a rabbit in front of her. Phantom gave her a appreciative nod and smiled. The wolf left and went to chat with some other wolves and watch pups play. 'I wonder if they are talking about me?' Phantom thought to herself. She looked at Antarctica, who took a step back to allow Phantom to eat the rabbit in peace. Phantom gave her a nod of thanks. As Phantom becane to eat the rabbit, Antartica had moved closer to the wolf. She asked for his name. Antarctica waited patiently for an answer. I looked at him, I was also curious to what his name.

He looked at Antarctica, "Oh, I'm Maelathorta, a kai from Akeru. I was just in the area so I decided to check up on Shinkou, see if anything important was going on."he paused and said he was going to check on his friend. He told his friend to stay put so he wouldn't frighten me. He talked to his friend for a minute or two, then came back. " If you don't mind Maelathorta, I would like o meet him. He looks like he has a nice personality." Phantom said in an eager tone. She licked her lips and stood up shaking dirt out of her fur. She stretched, then sat back down, waiting for Maelathorna to answer.

Mal looks to the newcomer in surprise. "Oh! You heard that?" he says, shuffling from embarrassment. He continues, "Oh, he's really pretty talkative. I'm really surprised he manages to hear any of the things he tells me, with how much he talks." He begins talking lower, so he couldn't hear them. "Honestly, it's kind of abrasive..." Speaking normally again, he continues, "Still! I need him to let me know what's going on, everyone else seems to leave something out." He looks up at her while facing the ground. "So where are you from...?" he asks, prompting her for her name.

" My name is Phantom, I came from the other side of those mountains." She said as she pointed to the mountains in the distance. She wanted to tell him why she came but that would only bring more tears to her eyes. She looked down, making sure she didn't have any tears in her eyes. Once she was sure there were no tears she looked back up at Maelathorta. " So do you have a nickname that I may call you, I don't mean to be rude but I don't think I will be able to remember your name, it's kind of long." Phantom said with a soft smile.

She found her eyes looking at the wolf Maelathorta had been talking to. His wings were magnificent, she had never seen a winged wolf up close before. She hoped that she would be able to meet him soon. She thought her staring must of been rude, but is was worth it. She looked back at Maelathorta, hoping he had a nickname that she could actually remember.

((His character sheet says how to pronounce his nickname, as well as his full name, I think.))

He softly laughs and says, "I get that alot. I meant to say it earlier, but you can call me Mal." He says this to the healer, as well. Looking back to Phantom--Phantom, I have to remember that..., he says to her, "Sorry if I ever forget your name, I'm really bad with names that way. I'm Mal, you know that, and I'm a Youroi, which means I can do this!" With that, he begins making the ball of light above her head change colors, both cyclically and by hue. He giggles in an almost pup-like fashion. He loves showing off if it amuses others.

Antarctica nodded when Mal answered her question. So, she had been correct. He was in fact, a Kai. "A strong name," she had stated. She nodded once more when he explained he would check on his friend and watched as he scampered off. In the moments he was away, she turned her attention to Phantom once more. Before she could say anything, Maelathorta had returned and Phantom was speaking to him.

Antarctica was content to simply sit back and listen as the two conversed. She had nothing to interject. At least for the moment. She ruffled her own wings against her back, one of the feathers falling to the cave floor. It was one of the tip-feathers, containing more blue than many of the others against the silver lining and white content. She glanced at it, but left it alone.

Her ears perked when Phantom spoke of where she was from. Yes, Antarctica had been wondering that. As the two continued talking about names and such, Antarctica thought of Phantom's homeland. Many had come from beyond those mountains. Her own mate and son had travelled there long ago... it was a mystery to her, but she knew the other side of the mountains was dangerous and held only tragedy and such in her memories. She wondered if the same applied to Phantom... if perhaps such was the reason she had come.

But she kept these thoughts to herself. She did not want to pry or rise unwanted feelings if indeed she was correct about something in Phantom's past.

"Well, now that we're all acquainted and introduced and such... Phantom, as a new member would you like to explore the lands? Maelathorta and I could give you quite a tour and you may feel much more comfortable in your new home." She assumed that as a Kai, Maelathorta would know his way around Shinkou, even if he was a part of the neighboring pack. She hoped this would also be a good opportunity. Nothing like a walk and fresh air to clear the mind and refresh the soul, she thought to herself.

If the two agreed, she would then lead the way from the cavern and begin making their way to the Kohai Forests in the near distance. If they did not, she would nod her head in understanding and ask if either of them had anything in mind they might want to do instead.

Phantom gave a soft chuckle at Mal's reply." Haha, thats ok, i'll just have to remind you." Phantom said with a smile. She couldn't help but notice how nice they were being to each, after they had only met earlier in the day.

When Mal showed off his powers, she couldn't help but think of her brother. For he was also a Youroi. " Wow!, I wish I could do something like that." Phantom said as she watched the ball of light change colors. " I used to have a younger brother, you see." Phantom said as she looked back into Mal's eyes. " He was also a Youroi, his element was water, he also loved showing off his abilities." Phantom gave a soft smile through her teary eyes. " He would always splash me and create images out nowhere." Phantom noticed that she had tears rolling down her cheeks, she quickly wiped them away. "I'm sorry," Phantom said in a soft voice,"I don't mean to get emotional."

"Well, I to am a Youroi, but I don't have any powers, I am a mute." Phantom looked down, somewhat ashamed of not having any abilities. After a few minutes, Antarctica mentioned giving her a tour of the lands, maybe she thought that it would help clear her mind. Phantom gave it some thought, "That sounds great, I would go on my own but I might get lost." Phantom said with a giggle. She looked at both of the wolves waiting for one to lead the way.

[Niphanos]

"Awww, don't cry..." he says at her tears, concerned. He goes up to her to comfort her, rubbing his face against her neck. He thinks a tour would be great for getting whatever made her cry off of her mind. "So, how about that tour? Let's get going!" He begins prancing out of the cave, excited to be showing the newcomer--no, to be showing Phantom around her new pack's territory.

((Heheh, hard for me to be serious after playing him.))

Phantom felt comforted by Mal's support. When she arrived, she wasn't expecting them to be so nice and caring towards her. She got up and stretched, then bounded after Mal with excitement. Once she got outside, she looked up into the sky. She thanked her mom for leading her to this place, for that is was she believed brought her here. Phantom looked back at Mal, she thought he was going to die from excitement, he reminded her of a pup. He would giggle at showing off, and got excited at little things. He was a good wolf to keep around when your sad. He will definately make you laugh and smile. She looked back into the cave and called to Antarctica, " Hey, your not going to make Mal show me everything are you?" Phantom teased. She sat down and waited for Antarctica, a smile forming on her face. She realized then that Mal's puppy-ness was rubbing of on her, 'Well', she thought to herself, ' I better use it while I still can!

OoC: Haha you don't have to change it, but if you'll read my post you'll see Antarctica isn't in the cave anymore XD She's leading the way to their destination! So if anyone's dilly dallying its the two young sillies xP haha

Antarctica sympathized with Phantom as she gave a bit of information about her past and herself. What this wolf needed was healing of the heart. That would take time, and love. But it seemed she needn't say anything, for Mal certainly made efforts to comfort her. She couldn't help the smile as she observed the two, so excited. Her own bushy tail wagged and once they were ready, she took up her position leading them into the Kohai Forests not too far away.

Soon, the scenery began to change into tall trees and various shrubs. The brush would rustle now and again as a rabbit darted off, or the sound of leaves could be heard with various creatures such as squirrels and birds bickering over food or playing with each other. Leaves and pine needles dotted the forest floor before their paws and the scents of many different things filled the air.

Antarctica breathed in deeply, enjoying the sounds and the feel of the cool forest. She always loved it here. She looked at Mal and Phantom, observing their reactions. "This is the Kohai Forest," she said, mostly to Phantom. "This place always has surprises of some kind." She paused. "What do you think?" It was true this forest held many surprises. It was perfectly possible to run into a creek or stream, a random cave, boulders about, or some undiscovered place. She wasn't sure if they would today, as the tour would take time but not so long they would linger through the whole day.

Of course, they could always return to wherever Phantom wished after the tour.

Haha, no problem

As they walked through the Kohai forests, Phantom couldn't help but stop every fer feet to get a better look and her new homeland. Nearby, Phantom noticed a bush rustling. She couldn't help but stop and scent the air for what the creature may be. The rabbit poked it's head out of the bush, not noticing her or any other threats. She got into a hunting crouch and watied for the rabbit to fully emerge. She watched the rabbit with intense, focused eyes. It hopped out of the bush to munch on some leaves. She got ready to to pounce. She jumped into the air, ' So this is what it felt like to fly', Phantom thought to herself. She landed on the ground, she stumbled and hit her head on a fallen log. it didn't hurt quite as bad as it looked. She shook her head and sat up slowly. She thought she heard a giggle from a wolf nearby, she couldn't tell who it was. But she had a feeling it was it was Mal.

She stood up looked around for Antarctica and Mal, she found them a little further into the forests He caught up to them, she couldn't find any sign that they had seen her little stunt. But they were still new to her, so she couldn't really read there faces. If they hadn't seen her fall, then who was it? She looked around to see if their were any wolves nearby. She thought she saw something, but she thought it was to small to be a wolf.

As they continued on, the forest began to get thicker and thicker. She found herself almost walking into many trees.Phantom looked around, " Wow, your territory is so big, it's way bigger than mine when I was a pup." She continued to look around. " So when should we start heading back?" She looked to Mal " You have a curfew, dont youu?" She teased.

((Hey Wolfie, not to be a pain in your side or anything, but remember that anything with other characters must be an attempt or a suggestion DX With hearing the giggle, if you're indicating that it came from one of our characters, you should say she thought she heard a giggle. Also, with them continuing on as if they hadn't seen her stunt, remember that that doesn't really leave much room in either mine nor Niphanos' reply to have a reaction to her accident since you already made it for us (by saying our characters ignore it). Hope this helps! I know it can be a little confusing

"Aww, what's that supposed to mean? Maelathorta says with a grin. Suddenly he has an idea. He puts a little band of light around her forepaw's wrist, illuminating the area just enough for a wolf to see clearly. It remains there, like a glowing bracelet. "There, now you won't get lost." he teases, giggling and bounding off through the brush ((shrrrubbery!)) playfully. The rod about his neck slowly changes colors, shifting slightly to a greyish-purple as he prances through the low-lying foliage, while the black moon above his head bobs as he runs, softly pulsating with his excited emotions.
