Ainoko was not so surprised at Graal's response, and he watched him chase after Cercius, truly hoping they at least worked something out. Perhaps it would take a lot of time to truly mend damage, but it was better to start than to always let it fester. At least, Ainoko thought so. In any case, that was put from his mind as his focus was now on Midnight.
At her reason, he raised a brow slightly, and then at her second comment, it made a little more sense. Still, he got the feeling she wasn't saying everything on her mind. He released a sigh and dipped his head to lap at the water, quenching his thirst. Females were always like that: confusing. Always trying to get you to ask them, to pry them for the information in their brain. Well okay, some females, sometimes.
"Oh, yea, I suppose you're right," he said, raising his head and glancing off slightly. "I'm sure they will work something out and be alright." There was a long pause of silence where he wasn't quite sure what to say next. He didn't want to awkwardly tell her he thought she was hiding something, or demand she tell him. It just wasn't his personality. After all, he was usually quite shy and up till this point, he had been acting strangely out of character - perhaps because she was so young and seemingly innocent and he didn't want her to get hurt. Also, in the case of Graal, he could see he was someone she trusted quite well - so he wasn't worried about him.
But Ainoko was a reserved individual, usually keeping his thoughts to himself. And even if he had been open and protective, it didn't mean he was all outgoing and would pry into other's thoughts or business. That was just him being himself. Then, why did he get the feeling she was expecting him to say something? Anything... his brain was failing him...
"Well, I'm glad you're okay and all. I was worried there would be some sort of remaining injury you'd have to heal from all naturally."

"My wings fine, Ainoko, it's my heart." She said to him. Before loosing her confidence, she leaned in and licked his cheek. Then she laughed. "I'll give you five minutes to figure it out. If you don't guess it I'll say it myself." She smiled at him, sitting on the bank to wait for his response. If he guessed it, she would sigh and lick him again, saying "Your turn." If he said what she wanted to hear, she would offer more affections, but not overly doing it. If he came close to the answer, she would say "Not quite" or "Your close", things like that. If he never guessed it, when his five minutes were up, she would turn to him and say, "I love you Ainoko. Ever since we met. That's why I almost died for you. It's also why I wanted to come here with you." She said, and would glance off into the trees. Turning back to him, she would say, "I think it's your turn."

Ainoko was not stupid. And in saying it was her heart, she confirmed an underlying suspicion of his that he had carried for a while, although he had blatantly denied it in his own mind. But, then, she made it quite obvious, even without out right saying it. Still, he couldn't say that he felt the same way... exactly. He accepted her affections, and sat there in silence for a moment. Realizing she was literally counting down though, he wondered if he should actually give her a response.
He didn't want to break her heart, or hurt her. He wondered if she had grown up enough yet to really understand everything. It wasn't that he saw her souly as a pup... he just had a feeling like she still had a lot to learn. And, was she really ready for what she was taking on?
Then again, a young heart... he couldn't help but smile slightly to himself at the thought.
Without him even realizing it, the five minutes were up and she was facing him, speaking her mind out loud. He was still, still trying to figure out what to tell her... exactly. Finally, he dipped his head gently, his eyes soft and smiling ever so lightly. "I've known you have feelings for me, Midnight. I suppose I just didn't want to admit it to myself."
He paused, glancing off slightly, then decided he should face her, look into her eyes while he talked to her so he did so. "You're very pretty, and sweet, and innocent. And I'd be lying if I said I didn't have feelings for you too." She was very likeable. "I only hesitate, because I don't want you to rush into something you're not ready for." He bit his tongue for a moment, trying to gauge her response. "I want to protect you and take care of you. Let's take this one step at a time. How does that sound?" Becoming mates... perhaps that would follow in due time. But in truth, he wasn't sure even he was ready for that just quite yet.

"I never wanted to rush into it myself. I only wanted to make sure I wasn't chasing something that didn't exist." She replied. "I just wanted both of us to say it." She felt relieved, like a weight was lifted off her. Her feelings were finally out there. She made herself calm down. Looking back at Ainoko, she said, "So what now?"

He released a sigh. Well, he still didn't think she completely got his meaning, but he guessed it was fine for now. It was a start anyway... "Yea, well, then I suppose you've got your answer." He smiled at her and glanced off slightly.
Then she asked, "What now?" and his ears perked up, he looking at her once again. "How about this..." he reached a paw in the water and attempted to splash her before darting off with a mischievous grin.

"Yea, I guess so."Midnight replied. "Hey!" She shouted when he splashed her. She took off in the air, mindful of the trees, until she was close enough to hit tue ground eunning. Literally. She would run with him for a little, then try to trip him, or at least shove him.

Ainoko chuckled as she shouted after him, dodging this way and that to avoid her attempts. She was successful in shoving him, and he glanced at her, somewhat surprised she was so close and he suddenly turned, facing her head on, tail wagging and head down slightly. He gave a playful growl... crouching. Then he sprang forward, hoping to meet her in play fighting, nipping at her and batting his paws.

Midnight didn't expect his sudden turn, and found herself skidding to avoid running into him. An evil thought came into hher head, and she dug her paws deeper, and if Ainoko wasn't quick enough, he would be showered with leaves and dirt. If he did manage to dodge it, she would use the confusion to attack him from behind, attempting to swipe out his back paws and/or push him over.

As she was skidding, dirt and leaves did indeed shower him and he shook himself, spitting to get some chunks of leaves out of his mouth. "Hey," he said, "Didn't we just come here to bathe off, and now you're getting me all filthy again!" he chuckled, though once the dirt cleared, he was surprised to feel a force pushing against him and he stumbled, falling over, somewhat to entertain her, though also because he had been surprised.
It had truly been a very long time since Ainoko had played like this. It was fun, and he liked it. Midnight was very different from many other wolves he had met. He liked that she was so carefree. He hoped she never lost that quality no matter how old she got or what happened to her. And it was then he silently made a promise to himself not to let anything happen to her that could possibly scar her in any fashion.
Aside from that, he was looking up at her, a look of, "Okay, you got me..." on his face.

Midnight grinned at him comment about the dirt. She shook herself off quickly before pouncing on top of him. Noticing his look, she said, "I win! Don't try to get away." Then she preceded to sit on him. He could still stand up, since she only weighed like 70 pounds. If he tried to get up, she would lay down, still on top of him, and mess with his ears. If he didn't try to get up..then...well, she would still nom his ears. She wasn't trying to be provokative or suggestive, she was just having fun.

"Oof!" escaped Ainoko's lips as she proceeded to pounce on her catch. He raised a brow, watching her antics and finally shaking his head in amusement, a smile on his face. "Now, now, is this any way to treat someone like me?" He was bigger than her, and heavier. It wouldn't be too hard to get back on his paws and push her off. But she was happy, and having fun. So, he put up with it.
She really was so much a pup still.. which was okay, in a sense. He knew of some wolves who were like pups their whole lives. But still knew how to be serious when the time came. He supposed Midnight knew that... from what he'd seen so far in battle anyway. Oh well. She had time.
"Well, miss, if you keep this up, I won't have any air left in me!" he called with a chuckle.

Midnight stopped chewing his ears and sat back up. "Pffft, well you'd have to catch me before I would be worried!" she said, springing up and away from him. In a few hours, the sun would set, and she would be forced to go to sleep. If she didn't get her energy out now, sleep would be impossible.
